Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv claimed Wednesday that CNN “canceled my interview with them” after he retweeted an article from The Daily Wire calling CNN host Brooke Baldwin a “fake news hypocrite” in its headline.

After expelled student Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, mainstream media outlets elevated the voices of many of the pro-gun control survivors, such as David Hogg and Emma González. But Kashuv, an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment, had been noticeably scarce on several of the major networks. The exception was Fox News, which interviewed him multiple times.

“Can’t wait to be on Brooke’s show tomorrow!” Kashuv wrote Tuesday evening when he retweeted Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra’s tweet of his own article. The article quoted sports writer Clay Travis as saying, “‘Fake News Hypocrite’ Brooke Baldwin Asks Porn Star for Explicit Details About What Trump Allegedly Wanted from Her.”

Baldwin and Travis got into an awkward argument on air in September before she kicked him off the air for saying, “I believe in only two things completely: the First Amendment and boobs.”

For his retweet of the quote from Travis, Kashuv said CNN revoked his invitation for an interview.

“I was invited to present the other side on 3/12/18 via email, but was unable to get it scheduled until today,” Kashuv tweeted Wednesday. “The shooting happened February 14, I did my first 1-1 TV interview on the 25th, so it took them from the 25th-the 12th to be willing to have me on 1-1 to present my side.”

“.@CNN canceled my interview with them for a RT of an article that states actual facts in there, but for some reason they don’t say a word when people call @DLoesch a child murderer, the @NRA murderers, and @marcorubio is like looking down the barrel of an AR-15 on their network,” Kashuv continued.

During a CNN town hall in February with Parkland shooting survivors, moderator Jake Tapper didn’t push back when student Cameron Kasky told Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) that “it’s hard to look at you and not look down the barrel on an AR-15 and not look at Nikolas Cruz.”

“I am sure CNN is truly bothered by my RT where @ClayTravisis quoted calling @BrookeBCNN a ‘Fake News hypocrite’ … They would NEVER let name calling on their network. Just ask the people that called others murderers for no reason. They were vehemently rebutted. Wait, they weren’t,” Kashuv added.

“It’s good to know that CNN not only hates #2A, but they also hate #1A,” Kashuv continued. “My friend just got a call from @CNN. They’re canceling my interview because I quote RTed a Tweet where @ClayTravis called @BrookeBCNN a ‘fake news hypocrite’ (and was quoted in the title). But don’t worry, CNN really wants to have the other side on, as long as they’re complicit.”

Media Research Center (MRC) Managing Editor Curtis Houck told LifeZette in an email that “if what Kyle said in his tweets pans out, this marks yet another shameful display of liberal bias on CNN.”

“For a network that’s obsessed with taking down Fox News, they should spend more time worrying about getting their own house in order,” Houck said. “Graphically discussing Not Safe for Work lie detector questions Stormy Daniels was asked about her alleged affair with [President Donald Trump] was totally fine for CNN. But having a Parkland student who doesn’t fit their narrative? They couldn’t accept that, instead supposedly claiming that Kyle’s criticism of CNN was unacceptable.”

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro had just taken CNN’s Brian Stelter to task Sunday on “Reliable Sources” for his network’s “absolutely egregious” pro-gun control bias.

“The coverage of the gun debate has been absolutely egregious. And I don’t want to single out your network, but CNN’s been pretty bad on this from a conservative perspective,” Shapiro said, accusing outlets like CNN of preferring to “allow certain people to go on TV and suggest that folks like Dana Loesch or people at the NRA are evil, don’t care, they’re terrorists, and there’s no pushback from the anchors.”

“This sort of thing makes a lot of people on the Right feel that the media are really using this as an opportunity to push gun control rather than objectively covering the legislative efforts that are going on in Washington, D.C.,” Shapiro added.

Kashuv has met with lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle, including Rubio, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was shot during a congressional baseball practice in June 2017. He met with Trump and first lady Melania Trump at the White House, along with Vice President Mike Pence.
