Now that Trump is once again back in the U.S., the tenuous fate of the Senate GOP’s partial repeal and replace of Obamacare hangs in the balance with the monthlong August recess looming on the horizon. Reports circulated last week that Senate Republican leaders may be considering a bipartisan deal with Democrats — a possible outcome that conservatives quickly hammered.

“Every Republican in the House and the Senate, as well as this president and this administration, promised the American people that we would repeal and replace Obamacare,” Pence said. “And the Senate now is literally within weeks of being able to deliver on that promise to the American people. The legislation before the Senate, for which there is not yet agreement, but we are close.”

“Obamacare has failed in every promise that they made when they passed it,” Pence added. “This will be a historic step toward reversing the disastrous and collapsing policy of Obamacare. And I promise you that the president and I have not stopped working day in and day out.”

The vice president urged the American people suffering under Obamacare to make their voices heard now because “this week is critical” for the future of health care reform and relief.

“There is no more compelling voice in Washington, D.C., than the voice of the American people. And I would tell your millions of listeners across this country this week is critical,” Pence told Ingraham. “And if you want to see Congress repeal and replace Obamacare, now is the time to let your voice be heard, because we’re certainly hearing from the advocates of single-payer health care.”

“We’re hearing from the advocates of single payer now. We need to be hearing from Americans who want to repeal and replace Obamacare because we are very close,” he concluded. “We can get it done, and I believe with all my heart we will get it done.” [lz_pagination]
