Newly released texts between FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page revealed that former President Barack Obama “want[ed] to know everything we’re doing” in the bureau’s investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said the texts released Wednesday “paint a picture of bias and animus, and certainly raise questions about possible corruption.” The committee released the texts along with a report titled “The Clinton Email Scandal and the FBI’s Investigation of It.”

“POTUS wants to know everything we’re doing,” Page, an FBI lawyer, told Strzok, a counterintelligence operative, in a Sept. 2, 2016, text message referring to former FBI Director James Comey’s preparations to brief Obama on the Clinton probe’s progress.

Obama sometimes used a pseudonym while communicating with Clinton via her private email server and address, according to FBI records revealed in September 2016.

The text message about Obama’s desire “to know everything we’re doing” meant that Obama wanted “to know what they’re doing to try to stop Trump,” Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Wednesday on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”

“Because that’s clearly from all the other text messages, that’s what they were working on, that’s what they cared about,” Gohmert said. “We’ve got to actually have the facts. We β€” we need to get to the bottom of this and find out what the president knew and when he knew it.”

Gohmert added that it is “extraordinary” that the FBI and the Department of Justice “covered for Hillary Clinton” during her 2016 presidential election campaign against President Donald Trump.

Another exchange between lovers Strzok and Page revealed that Andrew McCabe, who is stepping down as the FBI’s deputy director, knew of the “hundreds of thousands of emails” that resided on the computer of Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), a month before Comey informed Congress that he had reopened the Clinton investigation.

“Got called up to Andy’s earlier … hundreds of thousands of emails turned over by Weiner’s atty to sdny [Southern District of New York], includes a ton of material from spouse [Abedin]. Sending team up tomorrow to review … this will never end,” Strzok told Page on Sept. 28, 2016.

Other texts showed Page telling Strzok on Election Day, “OMG THIS IS F***ING TERRIFYING,” to which Strzok replied, “Omg, I am so depressed.”

Page added, “I bought all the president’s men. Figure I need to brush up on watergate.”

In a text from August 2016, Page told Strzok that he was “meant to protect the country from that menace,” referring to Trump.

“Of course I’ll try and approach it that way. I just know it will be tough at times. I can protect our country at many levels, not sure if that helps,” Strzok replied to Page.

Trump took to Twitter Wednesday to comment on the new batch of text messages, writing, “NEW FBI TEXTS ARE BOMBSHELLS!”
