MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” panel Thursday told America that President Donald Trump’s slurred words while announcing his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital raises new worries about the chief executive’s mental health.

That none of the panelists are medical doctors didn’t deter them from assessing Trump’s fitness for the Oval Office.

“[Trump] seemed like he was almost hanging on to the prompter and hanging on to the words,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said. “There was a struggle happening.”

Co-host Joe Scarborough agreed, saying, “There was a struggle happening — this is not the person that we knew even three years ago. There’s a remarkable change.”

Daily Beast columnist Mike Barnicle chimed in, saying, “When you consider [Trump’s] age, his physical condition, he does not look in great physical shape and hasn’t for some time.”

MSNBC analyst Steve Schmidt wondered what caused Trump’s slurring and noting that “the question of his fitness, of his stability, is in the air.”

“And it doesn’t get better when you see clear impairments,” Schmidt said. “We don’t have updates on his health, we don’t know what’s going on … This is the man who commands America’s nuclear arsenal, and that video, that speech, that impairment is chilling.”

Trump spokesman Raj Shah told the Los Angeles Times Wednesday that Trump’s throat was “dry, there’s nothing to it.”

Shah dismissed suggestions that the chief executive’s dry throat indicated anything other than a dry throat. “I’m saying there’s nothing to it,” Shah said.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told Fox News host Laura Ingraham November 29, on “The Ingraham Angle,” that it is “absolutely outrageous” for the media to question Trump’s mental health and fitness.

“Look, I think those kind of accusations are completely off-base and irresponsible,” McConnell said. “Let’s argue over the issues. We have different points of view.”
