The mainstream liberal media is not amused.

After months of castigating as mere conspiracy theory well-founded concerns over Hillary Clinton’s health, the mainstream media has been forced to cover her health episodes as news items — after video footage surfaced Sunday that appeared to show the candidate fainting.

“Taking the Clinton team’s word for it on her health … is no longer enough.”

“Taking the Clinton team’s word for it on her health — in light of the episode on Sunday morning — is no longer enough,” wrote Chris Cillizza regretfully in The Washington Post Sunday. “Reasonable people can — and will — have real questions about her health,” he continued.

It speaks volumes about the inherent bias of the mainstream media that taking the Clinton team’s word for it on her health was ever enough for a supposedly serious journalist like Cillizza. But the Clinton camp’s continued insistence that all is well, despite evidence to the contrary, is becoming too much even for Clinton apologists.

“I wrote dismissively of [the Clinton health] conspiracy theory in this space last week, noting that Clinton had been given an entirely clean bill of health by her doctors after an episode in which she fainted, suffered a concussion and then was found to have a blood clot in late 2012 and early 2013,” wrote Cillizza.

Indeed, that column in which Cillizza begged the mean old conservative conspiracy theorists to leave poor little Hillary alone, was entitled, “Can we just stop talking about Hillary Clinton’s health now?” Cillizza and Clinton apologists across the media got their unwelcome answer to that question on Sunday.

“Whereas Clinton and her campaign could laugh off questions about her health before today, the ‘overheating’ episode makes it almost impossible for them to do so,” Cillizza concluded.

The obvious subtext in Cillizza’s words, however, is that now that there’s video of Clinton fainting — after minimal physical exertion in mild 80 degree weather — it is impossible for the mainstream media to ignore those same questions that independent journalists not wedded to the liberal agenda have been asking for months.

“Clinton’s campaign appears to have, at best, withheld information from the public and — at worst — misled them by aggressively batting down ‘conspiracy theories’ that her coughing fit was anything more than allergies,” reads an article published on NBC Monday morning.

NBC is far more concerned with what this will do to Clinton’s campaign prospects, of course, than about what it says of the Clinton campaign’s contempt for truth and the American people.

“Opponents are already seeing the incident as proof of their claims that Clinton has been hiding health issues. And others may now be more incredulous of the campaign’s statements on her health,” the article continues. Heaven forbid others may trust Clinton even less than they already do.

NBC also took the opportunity to use Clinton’s health scare to criticize none other than Donald Trump. It even suggested that — despite countless coughing fits, leaked emails about her frequent confusion and need for sleep, a video that appears to show her having a seizure, and finally the latest video showing her collapsing from alleged pneumonia-driven exhaustion — concerns over her health could still be the result of sexism.

“Trump has not been subjected to the same kind of scrutiny and has been less forthcoming during his presidential campaign,” the article reads. “Clinton may also face a different standard because of her gender, her defenders say. Many presidential candidates have had health issues, but Clinton defenders say that while enduring health issues can be seen as a sign of persistence in male candidates, it’s viewed as a sign of weakness in women.”

Meanwhile, Carl Bernstein appeared on CNN Sunday night to suggest Clinton’s health scare provides a good opportunity for Trump to be transparent. Clinton “and her doctor need to be in front of the press for an hour with medical records and discussing and open to questions about her medical history,” said Bernstein. But “Donald Trump needs to do the same. And we need to demand it of both of them,” Bernstein said.

But Donald Trump isn’t the candidate with a documented history of behavior that suggests a serious underlying health issue — nor a history of covering up that behavior.

“It was interesting because they say pneumonia on Friday, but she was coughing very, very badly a week ago and even before that. This wasn’t the first time,” Trump said Monday morning. “It’s very interesting to see what’s going on.”
