A left-wing Twitter user made an implicit threat against Laura Ingraham, editor-in-chief of LifeZette, on Wednesday afternoon in the wake of a shooting attack made in Virginia against GOP members of Congress.

The offensive tweet read simply, “Too bad you don’t play baseball.”

The remark came after Ingraham noted on Twitter: “A @BernieSanders supporter did shooting spree: James T. Hodgkinson who pushed a http://Change.org petition to appt indep counsel.”

The Twitter user, Joshua34562719, is anonymous, but he follows Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, some Florida sites, and atheist activist Richard Dawkins.

The attack on congressional Republicans at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday morning indicates the levels of angry rhetoric aimed at Trump since the fall are beginning to cause fringe elements to act.

Some other progressives seemed to endorse the idea of violent resistance against Republican policies, even while saying the shooting may not have been helpful to their cause.

“For violent resistance to work it’d need to be organized. Individual acts can be understandable, but likely counterproductive/ineffective,” tweeted Jesse Benn, whose Twitter bio includes a link to an author page on the Huffington Post.

Benn also describes himself as a “Member of the intolerant Left.”

Threats aimed at members of Congress also increased after the Alexandria ambush, which put Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) in the hospital. Scalise was shot in the hip by James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois. Capitol Police shot and killed Hodgkinson, 66, an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter, Trump critic, and progressive.

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) was the recipient of an ominous email following the attack with the subject line “one down, 216 to go.”

“Did you NOT expect this? When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance,” the email said.

Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) told the Associated Press on Wednesday he thought security for Congress is too minimal.

Hodgkinson wounded several others in the attack during a game practice, where he likely hoped to injure Republican members of the House and Senate. The attack highlighted the angry rhetoric and threats — and now the action — aimed at conservatives, Republicans, and Trump supporters since Democrats lost a stunning election to a man they loathe.

“I’ve been saying, ‘What is it going to take for this to get some visibility,'” said Charlie Kirk, a young conservative activist, speaking to the Associated Press. “And now here we are.”

Since Trump won the election, the Left and media figures have ramped up the over-the-top rhetoric.

Democratic members of Congress boycotted the inauguration.

Bill Maher of HBO constantly suggests Republicans are “traitors.”

Comedian Kathy Griffin held up a dummy’s head — covered in fake blood and made to look like Trump — to show her feelings about the president.

And a production of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” by the Public Theater of New York, has been representing Caesar as a Trumpian figure, in a red tie with Trump-like hair and wardrobe. The depiction is used during the brutal assassination scene in the play.

There are outrage and complaints, but usually, those complaints are said to be infringing upon free expression. It certainly wasn’t this way after Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was shot in 2011 by a mentally ill gunman. Republicans, including Sarah Palin, were blamed for creating a climate of political discord and hatred.

In 2011, after the Giffords shooting — which resulted in six deaths and left Giffords partially disabled — the Left seized upon criticism of Giffords. USA Today even asked to what degree did Sarah Palin’s criticism of Democrats lead to the shooting.

“Some are blaming rhetoric from the right for the #Tucson #shooting. What do you think? #tcot, #palin,” USA Today tweeted.

This time, there is no substantial comparison to what has been created since Trump took office on Jan. 20. Trump has constantly been called a traitor and worse. He has been the subject of invalid accusations.

Trump supporters have too often responded with angry rhetoric, according to congressional Democrats.

“Members on both sides of aisle spoke at briefing about increased number of threats they get,” tweeted John Bresnahan of Politico, about a post-shooting meeting.
