Comments about President Donald Trump made by Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch have left a significant fallout in their wake — and just as during the election, pundits like MSNBC host Joe Scarborough are rushing to pile on the president.

In a conversation with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on Wednesday, Gorsuch said he found Trump’s attack on the federal judge who blocked his travel ban “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

“The historical precedents … are chilling — I don’t even want to mention their names.”

Gorsuch’s comments — or, perhaps more accurately, Blumenthal’s publicization thereof — have inevitably given liberals and the mainstream media a brand-new license to bash Trump for his attacks on the judiciary.

Scarborough, who despite claiming to be some kind of conservative is thoroughly liberal, piled on the anti-Trump hysteria Thursday morning, as he so often does when the narrative surrounding Trump goes south.

In supremely hyperbolic comments Scarborough, the host of “Morning Joe,” likened Trump to the 20th century’s worst dictators. “The historical precedents, Mark Halperin, are chilling — I don’t even want to mention their names,” Scarborough said Thursday.

“But I will say some of the most dangerous autocrats of the 20th century, their two goals were to first undermine an independent judiciary and second to undermine a free press. This crosses a bright line that conservatives in my party need to start talking about,” Scarborough continued.

The utter irresponsibility of Scarborough’s comments is breathtaking. In two brief sentences, Scarborough revealed not only a complete disregard for the truth, but also a disconcertingly poor grasp of 20th century history — not to mention the Constitution — for someone who is ostensibly able speak on political matters with some authority.

The notion that an ill-advised “demoralizing” tweet signals that Trump is in the same league as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or Castro — and is some sort of proof that he wishes to undermine an independent judiciary and free press — is simply ridiculous.

The only thing Trump wishes to undermine is a wholly partisan press which intentionally distorts the truth in order to advance liberal, globalist causes and support the liberal, globalist worldview — of which Joe Scarborough is a prime example.

Scarborough’s comments were offensive to all those who truly suffered under tyranny during the 20th century, dishonest in the extreme, and will likely only further add to a sense of self-righteousness and justification amongst those who think violence against Trump and his supporters is warranted.

That MSNBC hasn’t already moved to suspend him immediately speaks volumes about the strength of liberal bias in the mainstream media.

It’s not just Trump’s detractors who were thrown into fits of hyperbolic frenzy at the news of Gorsuch’s comments. Fox Business anchor Lou Dobbs took to Twitter to launch a scathing attack on Gorsuch for speaking his mind.

“Gorsuch calls @POTUS comments about judges disheartening and demoralizing … Dishonors Scalia Seat,” Dobbs tweeted. “Only an unprincipled and unwise weakling would utter such nonsense, and turn on man who nominated him: Honor Requires He Withdraw His Name,” Dobbs tweeted soon after.

But Gorsuch is one of the most widely respected originalist or textualist judges on any bench in the country, known for his thoughtful rulings and well-written opinions. Clearly the notion that Gorsuch is either unprincipled, unwise, or weak is as ridiculous as Scarborough’s claims about Trump’s supposed autocratic tendencies.
