Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich blasted the Bush dynasty and Ohio Gov. John Kasich for their refusal to attend the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on “The Laura Ingraham Show” Wednesday.

After spending some time commending Kasich for what he has done as Ohio’s governor, Gingrich told Ingraham that he “just [doesn’t] know what’s gotten into his head” after Kasich, a former rival of Donald Trump’s, has refused to endorse the Republican presidential nominee or even attend the convention in his home state.

“It makes no sense to me, and I feel sad for him. I mean, you don’t want to live a life of being bitter and wandering around doing goofy things.”

“And by the way, the people of Cleveland have been wonderful. You contrast their hospitality with John Kasich’s attitude, you know, and you just think, what has gotten into him?” Gingrich said.

“It makes no sense to me, and I feel sad for him. I mean, you don’t want to live a life of being bitter and wandering around doing goofy things,” the former speaker said.

When LifeZette Editor-in-Chief Laura Ingraham mentioned that former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush also declined to attend the RNC this year, Gingrich offered some harsh words for all of them — as well as for those Republicans that are potentially plotting a party re-evaluation post-Trump.

“Well, I think that they’re just delusional. It’s a free country, and certainly people who want to get together and form sort of the, you know, antiquarian club of people who used to matter, can do so,” Gingrich said. “But that’s who they are — the people who used to matter. The world has changed, and of course, if you’re a consultant, Trump is your worst nightmare — cause he didn’t spend any money. He didn’t do what we think billionaires do. He didn’t buy the nomination. He was more clever, he understood how to use social media better, he was more effective with the issues. And, you know, he’s his own consultant.”
