Republican campaign consultant Ed Rollins said during an interview Wednesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that the American people made a “glorious choice” last night when they elected Donald Trump to the presidency in “the greatest upset in the history of American politics.”

Rollins, the co-chairman of the pro-Trump Great America PAC and formerly the national campaign director for Ronald Reagan’s 1984 presidential campaign, told LifeZette Editor-in-Chief Laura Ingraham that he could not be more “joyous” this morning. After witnessing the people’s historic Election Day choice, Rollins said this is a “great, great day for America.”

“Obviously, to those of us that always believed in democracy and that the people have the right to pick their choices — they made a glorious choice,” Rollins said. “This is the greatest upset in the history of American politics.”

A Trump nomination proved to be a harsh, even devastating slap in the face to the out-of-touch political Establishment and media elite, Rollins told Ingraham. Rollins said the “miracle” of Trump was the fact that he was “right here on Election Day, on the cusp of winning the presidency” despite the fact “every single media outlet … every single consultant, every single Washingtonian Establishment player [was] against him.”

“His audiences kept on getting bigger and bigger and it became a crusade in which basically Americans took back their government,” Rollins said. “I’m an old man. I’m 73 years old, and the joy I have in my heart because I’ve always felt that the Establishment — even though I’ve spent 25 years in Washington and gotten a top job in Washington — I never felt the Establishment got the country. And it is our democracy. It is our government. And I think it’s just fascinating to me that this guy could do it and go out there and turn these people on.”

“I feel so good today about America,” Rollins added. “And I feel Americans out there are going to feel good about themselves.”
