Economist Stephen Moore on Wednesday mocked Democrats for opposition to tax cuts and praised President Donald Trump’s confrontational approach to China.

Noting a rally Democratic members of Congress staged Tuesday attacking the president’s tax cuts, Moore said on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that Republicans should welcome that debate.

Moore, who founded Club for Growth and advised Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, noted that some 5.1 million workers have received bonuses, raises, or increased retirement benefits as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which became law in December 2017.

“It’s one thing to say repeal a plan that isn’t working,” he said. “But, gosh, I saw Donald Trump a few weeks ago a Mar-a-Lago, and you know, I just said to him, ‘You know, sir, this has worked out better than even I thought it would.'”

Moore (pictured above) pointed to a recent report that 93 percent of manufacturers are bullish about the economy and are talking about expanding.

“We are bringing hundreds of billions of dollars of money back into the United States that was in China or Ireland or Bermuda or the Cayman Islands,” he said. “It’s coming back here to be invested.”

Moore said Democrats demonize the “evil” top 1 percent.

“What do they do for a living?” he asked. “They own, operate and invest in small businesses. They employ people.”

Although Moore has a long record of promoting free trade, he said Trump is right on China. He said America has to regard China as an enemy.

“Wake up America, right? Wake up,” he said. “China is the new Soviet Union. The China 2025 plan is to achieve, you know, world domination. Trump is exactly right.”

Moore said Trump “stood toe-to-toe with Beijing,” threatening hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs. Since then, he noted, China has made promises to respect intellectual property and reduce tariffs on imported autos.

“You know what? He won,” he said. “They blinked. And that’s one of the reasons the stock market went up 750 points.”

In addition to rogue trade policies, China also props up North Korea’s dictatorial regime and allowed the nation to acquire nuclear weapons, Moore said.

The mystery, he added, is why it took Trump to change course.

“Why is it that it took 25 years for an American president to stand up to Beijing?” he asked. “We know they’ve been stealing $300 billion a year from us. We know they don’t play by any of the rules of trade.”
