Brexit is the Globalists’ Y2K

On Thursday, June 23, the United Kingdom will hold a referendum on its membership in the European Union. Opponents of Brexit — Britain’s exit from the E.U. — have resorted to absurd, apocalyptic claims designed to scare voters into voting to remain.

“He actually with a straight face said that Britain leaving Europe could trigger the end of Western civilization.”

“Those that have achieved power and prosperity under an existing system are unlikely to want to risk altering that system,” said Ben Harris-Quinney, chairman of the Bow Group, the U.K.’s oldest conservative think tank. This also explains “why so many large corporations favor Britain’s continued membership of the E.U.,” Harris-Quinney added.

As support for Brexit has grown, those with vested interests in upholding that system — from Prime Minister David Cameron and his inner circle, to large corporations and E.U. officials — have resorted to increasingly desperate and outlandish scaremongering in order to prevent Brexit.

The most effective of these predicted doomsday scenarios is the assertion that Brexit would have dire economic consequences for the U.K.. Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne even released an emergency budget — widely ridiculed — “which basically predicted a £30 billion black hole” if Britain left the E.U., said Paul Nizinskyj, creative director of Conservatives for Liberty, a libertarian-leaning pressure group which is actively campaigning for Brexit.

“One of the most absurd arguments is that we would cease all trading with our European neighbors if we left the European Union,” said Raheem Kassam, former chief advisor to UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

“As if Germany would stop needing to export us their cars, as if France will need to stop exporting their wine to us. We are the largest market for a lot of these countries, especially the poorer countries who just entered the European Union relatively recently,” he said.

“I would suggest that, when push comes to shove, if manufacturers in Germany or farmers in France see their bottom lines being hit because their political leaders refuse to trade out of spite with the United Kingdom, those political leaders won’t be political leaders for much longer,” Kassam said.

“A lot of the remain argument just doesn’t stack up,” said Nizinskyj. David Cameron wrote in The Telegraph on Sunday “that Britain is on course to be one of the big success stories of the 21st century, growing faster this year than any other advanced economy in the world except America,” Nizinskyj noted.

“But arguably that growth is in spite of the EU rather than because of it,” he said. “Europe is the only continent on the planet that is shrinking as a percentage of world GDP.” Moreover, Britain’s “small and medium-sized business would prosper” outside of the E.U., said Nizinskyj.

“Large corporations that love the E.U. can devote entire departments to high regulations and high levels of red tape,” he noted. “But your average local regional business just doesn’t have the resources to do that,” Nizinskyj added.

Kassam also pointed out that if it left the E.U., “Britain would take its position on the World Trade Organization — at the moment it doesn’t sit because it allows itself to be represented” by the E.U.. “If we had a seat at the World Trade Organization table as we should do as one of the world’s leading powers then actually we’d have a far greater impact on global trade than we do now,” Kassam said.

“There’s so much speculation at the moment from the IMF, and the OECD, and the World Bank, and Angela Merkel, and the Treasury and the Bank of England,” but “these are all people who have got almost every economic forecast incorrect over the last few decades,” said Kassam. “We need to take a look at the record of the experts before we keep regarding them as experts.”

But opponents of Brexit are making wild predictions that go well beyond irreversible economic calamity. “There has been some extraordinary scare-mongering about Brexit,” Harris-Quinney said. “Including warnings of … the end of civilization.”

“The [most] ridiculous argument I have heard however must have been that of the German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble,” Harris-Quinney said. “He is the second most powerful politician in Germany and one of the most significant in Europe. He argued that Brexit could result in inbreeding as immigration levels would be likely to fall.”

The outrageous claims of the globalists only grow wilder. “The prime minister, quite infamously now, suggested that Britain leaving the E.U. would cause World War Three,” Nizinskyj said. “But by far the most ludicrous claim was made by Donald Tusk, president of the European Council,” he added. “He actually with a straight face said that Britain leaving Europe could trigger the end of Western civilization.”

But Nizinskyj also noted that the more ridiculous the claims being made by the globalists, the more the average Briton is likely to look favorably upon Brexit.”The more they escalate, it seems, the more they’re shooting themselves in the foot.”

“Brexit may lead to an alien invasion,” quipped Kassam. “It also may lead to a country that’s able to form its own policy at home.”
