The quackery of HeadOn should make all of us even more grateful for naproxen sodium, the common ingredient found in several over-the-counter headache medications — and also leery of bogus promises. HeadOn was reportedly made from the same solution used to develop photographs, and when it was applied directly to the forehead, it was supposed to relieve headaches. (And if you believe this, there’s a bridge for sale in Brooklyn … ) Still, more than 6 million tubes of HeadOn were sold for $8 each, after an internet ad in or about 2006 went viral.
