With its more than 2,400 Supercuts franchise locations nationwide, it’s a wonder there would ever be a need — or want — for the Flowbee. A hair-clipping device with an attached mini-vacuum cleaner, it lets users trim their hair without making a mess (although some might disagree with that). Invented by Rick Hunt, who showcased his creation on late-night TV, the Flowbee was an overnight success. More than two million Flowbees were sold from the early ’90s to the year 2000. It’s hard to believe, but the clunky contraption is still available for purchase today.
