An article in The Wall Street Journal earlier this year crushed any hopes for Beanie collectors to strike it rich. “If you bring Beanies to me and try to sell them to me in bulk, I’ll give you about 20 cents. That’s me telling you I don’t want them,” Steve Johnston, the owner of Rogue Toys, told the WSJ. That’s not to say these cuddly stuffed animals weren’t at one time the cat’s meow; when H. Ty Warner debuted them in Atlanta at a toy show, he sold 30,000 of them, fetching him somewhere between $3 billion and $6 billion.
