Planned Parenthood is intent not only on ensuring that unborn babies don’t have a chance at life — the group wants to take childhood away from children, too.

Outraging many this week was a Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood office’s suggestion on Tuesday via Twitter that the world “needs a Disney princess who has had an abortion.” (The tweet was later deleted.)

Truly horrible. And as concerned parents, grandparents, and citizens whose interest is in championing the vulnerable, we need to be the guards at the gate, keeping this “dark kingdom” (as Disney might frame it) away from our kids.

It is scary to ponder: Just what would this princess’ song be — the one that little girls all over the country would sing in loving mimicry? Would she sing a “regretful but determined” number — a princess navigating New York City who is determined to put the “obstacle” of a baby behind her, intent on her own personal growth?

Instead of a ball gown, would she wear a hospital gown?

Would her prince sing a sad song of his own, his lyrics explaining that he should have no rights or decision-making ability in whatever becomes of the child they created together?

It almost makes you miss the duplicity of Maleficent. Her evil was make-believe.

This is all too real.

“Planned Parenthood believes that pop culture — television shows, music, movies — has a critical role to play in educating the public and sparking meaningful conversations around sexual and reproductive health issues and policies, including abortion,” Planned Parenthood Keystone President and CEO Melissa Reed said late Tuesday in a statement to members of the media regarding the tweet. “We also know that emotionally authentic portrayals of these experiences are still extremely rare — and that’s part of a much bigger lack of honest depictions of certain people’s lives and communities.” She also explained the group had taken down the tweet.

There’s nothing a little kid wants more than a meaningful conversation about sexual and reproductive health issues and policies. But that’s not the point.

Planned Parenthood wants children to be thinking about sexuality — and is selling this under the guise of reproductive health education and awareness. It is all a part of a destructive strategy to indoctrinate the young and to shut out parents from any possible discussions or solutions. It is the wholesale, systematic eradication of innocence.

Let us have the strength and confidence to be that guard at the gate for our kids.

Madness must be recognized as madness when it comes to our kids. Let us have the strength and confidence to be that guard at the gate for our kids. We need to express outrage on social media, tweet to this Planned Parenthood office (@PPKeystone), and, if age-appropriate, explain to our children that we love them enough to protect them from media influences that try to steal their childhood away from them.

Let’s be the knight on the white horse who rides in to save our kids from this scourge.
