And you thought buttered popcorn and watermelon were the most beloved choices of all? Guess again!

Ask me to describe the taste of black-licorice jelly beans, and the best I can come up is the very articulate, “Yuk.”

My husband, on the other hand, just loves them.

“Give me that,” he has said on those occasions when a black-licorice jelly bean has wound up in the bunch I’ve scooped up.

“Gladly,” I’ve said.

But then I want a chocolate-flavored one in return — or a vanilla, or a cinnamon. Anything but black licorice.

Yet clearly those who relish this flavor have a whole lot of company — because CandyStore.com just released a list of the 30 favorite jelly-bean flavors in America, broken down by state. And black licorice is the best loved flavor in the country.

For real.

Here are the 10 most popular jelly-bean flavors across the nation, according to the new CandyStore.com survey:

  • Black licorice
  • Buttered popcorn
  • Watermelon
  • Cherry
  • Cinnamon
  • Juicy pear
  • Orange
  • Green apple
  • Toasted marshmallow
  • Blueberry

While some flavors on this list make sense to many of us — watermelon is refreshing, and green apple is nicely tart — others seem a bit of a head scratcher (juicy pear? Feels so … random). And toasted marshmallow? Maybe.

But the folks at CandyStore.com apparently did their research: They dug “through over nine years of sales data,” involving over 10,000 people, to produce their list of favorite flavors and found that “Americans gobble up more than 16 billion (with a ‘b’) jelly beans on Easter.”

Also, this handy list comes out just in time for National Jelly Bean Day (April 22), so after Easter, people can keep celebrating and eating the jelly beans they favor, including all those black-licorice beans. (Incidentally, black licorice was the number-one flavor in New Jersey — no wonder I don’t live in the Garden State anymore!)

Here are the next five favorite flavors, by the way:

  • Coconut
  • Pink strawberry
  • Cotton candy
  • Bubblegum
  • Root beer
