It’s 2018 and a mother can’t even share a beautiful family photo without fear of a trumped-up media backlash.

Not if you’re Ivanka Trump, anyway, daughter of President Donald Trump and an adviser as well.

The first daughter shared the oh-so-controversial photo Sunday on Instagram.

“My ♥️,” she wrote about her two-year-old son, Theodore.

The left-wing media, however, took this to be an obvious act of provocation.

Patton Oswalt, a stand-up comedian and actor, was among those who blasted Ivanka for her “heartless” act.

“Isn’t it the just the best to snuggle your little one — knowing exactly where they are, safe in your arms? It’s the best. The BEST. Right, Ivanka? Right?” Oswalt tweeted.

“What in the world is wrong with this family?” comedian-turned-activist Chelsea Handler commented. “Is this picture supposed to remind Mexican asylum seekers what they’ve lost?”

Jim Carrey, attaching one of his hideous “art” pieces, blasted the first daughter in a tirade.

He wrote: “1500 innocent children ripped from their mothers’ arms at our border. Lost in Trump’s ‘system’. Give us your tired, your poor, your huddle masses yearning to breathe free — and we will torture them for wanting a better life. From Shining City to Evil Empire in under 500 days.”

Only days earlier, Ivanka had posted a similar photo of herself with Theodore:

Ivanka Trump was so purportedly “tone-deaf” as to have ignored the current media outrage about President Trump’s border patrol policies, which were punctuated by the activist #WhereAreOurChildren hashtag this weekend.

The uproar was fueled by a photo of illegal immigrants’ children being held in a caged detention facility.

The heartrending photo was shared far and wide. One big problem: It was taken in 2014, under former President Barack Obama.

“Democrats mistakenly tweet 2014 pictures from Obama’s term showing children from the Border in steel cages. They thought it was recent pictures in order to make us look bad, but backfires. Dems must agree to Wall and new Border Protection for good of country … Bipartisan Bill!” Trump commented on Tuesday.

The Obama administration had encouraged a wave of child immigrants in 2012, after its adoption of the arguably unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This caused many children to be held in detention centers while they were examined and checked for infectious diseases.

The weekend’s outrage targeted the Department of Justice’s “zero tolerance” policy on illegal immigration, which announced that children could be taken into temporary custody while their parents were being processed.

It’s important to note that the media targeted Ivanka Trump far and wide: ABC News, the BBC, Peoplethe Daily Mail, and CNN, among many others, latched onto the story with hypercritical pieces.

It says a lot about media outlets that they will go so far out of their way to push a political narrative in order to demonize a mother holding her child.

If the left-wing media are trying so hard to make their enemies in the Trump administration look “hateful,” they should take a look in the mirror: Slamming what many normal people view as simply a loving picture of a mother and her child is not a good look.
