Homemade gifts have more meaning, especially around the holidays when we can all get carried away and spend too much money.

Beeswax candles are always at the top of my list. They emit negative ions, in the process purifying the air by burning positively charged ions like dust and pollen.

Negative ions are Mother Nature’s natural cleaning tool, and they promote harmony in a space. Burn a beeswax candle while you are working, or before you drift off to sleep, and see if you don’t notice a difference.

These candles burn slowly and at a higher temperature than other candles, so you need a thicker wick to allow the wax to burn evenly, at least a No. 2 cotton wick, square and braided if possible. These are available from candle suppliers and online.
