This year, the North Carolina-based family known for its previous video mashups is delighting fans yet again with a customized mashup of Sia’s “Chandelier” and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.”

Penn Holderness is dressed as the young dancer seen in Sia’s official “Chandelier” video. The Holderness version depicts a typical family gathering for Thanksgiving dinner — complete with petrified potatoes, irritating in-laws, and football fanatics.

The Holderness family includes parents Penn and Kim, and their adorable kids Lola and Penn Charles. This clever, creative group first found their way into America’s hearts in 2013 with their viral video, “#Xmas Jammies,” which boasts more than 17 million views to date on YouTube.

Two years ago, the Holderness Family’s “All About That Baste” — a parody of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” — was a huge Thanksgiving hit that quickly made the rounds on social media.

Published late last week, this year’s Thanksgiving offering, “Thanksgiving 2017 MASH-up” is already closing in on 50,000 views — and counting.

This year’s parody features a comedic exploration of Daddy Holderness’ continued culinary challenges, but with a twist. Last year in “Baste,” he was unceremoniously banned from dinner prep, with the sole exception of basting the turkey — a move designed to keep him from ruining the family meal.

This year, they risk allowing him to prepare the mashed potatoes. His attempt is a spectacularly disastrous and completely hilarious failure, and the dish is shunned by one and all. Even copious amounts of gravy couldn’t save it.

The appeal of Holderness Family video parodies lies in their relatability. From older folks struggling with technology to sniffling kids spreading their germy love to all comers, some features of family gatherings are near-universal.

In a particularly funny, 100 percent-relatable bit in “2017 MASH-up,” Daddy Holderness retreats to the den to join his young namesake for a moment of peace in front of the television. Relatives are arguing politics, and he’s had enough.

“I wanna hide from their political fights … watch some football highlights,” he croons alongside his son.

Despite the way the video pokes fun at common family foibles, it is clear this family is a close one — and that there’s a lot of love around the Thanksgiving table in the Holderness household. And the outtakes at the end of the video are almost as fun as the video itself.
