Free feminine hygiene products in nonresidential women’s and men’s campus restrooms — yes, this is now a reality at Brown University. Student body President Viet Nguyen, who helped hand-deliver the materials, told Newsweek earlier this month, “We wanted to set a tone of trans-inclusivity and not forget that they’re an important part of the population.” He added, “Pads and tampons are a necessity, not a luxury.”

Apparently, they are a necessity even for men. And, yes — Nguyen suggested that not all people who menstruate are women.

Brown is not alone in these actions. New York City public schools recently decided to provide free hygiene products in all school buildings for sixth grade through 12th grade. The state’s new legislation extends to homeless shelters and prisons as well. New York Department of Social Services Commissioner Steven Banks said the law expands on existing policies “to respect the dignity of all women, girls, transgender men, intersex and gender non-conforming New Yorkers [who are] living in shelter[s], and provide the resources and support they need.”

Reacting to this mentality with ridicule would be understandable — and there may well be a place for mockery. But derision is too simplistic for us to gain the proper insight into where this crazy new sexual “revolution” is heading. Responding with logic might be more helpful.

“Truth matters supremely because in the end, without truth there is no freedom,” said one author and social critic.

First, no society on earth has ever before tried to rewrite what it means to be biologically male and female. And while many today casually accept all “variations” on gender — think of Facebook’s now-infamous 58 gender choices — they do so to their detriment and the country’s. The selection of one’s gender is “the deepest rebellion against the conditions of our human existence that you can possibly imagine,” as author Gabriele Kuby said.

Kuby, author of the book, “The Global Sexual Revolution: The Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom,” told the Catholic World Report, “The idea of changing our sex upsets the notion of what it means to be human … It makes people sick and rootless and they do not know who they are.”

How did we get to this new and confusing world? While entire dissertations are written on the subject, let’s cut to the chase: We have gradually yet consistently abandoned objective, absolute truth. Truth is now relative and denigrated to feeling. This has occurred on a global scale, not just in the United States.

Author and social critic Os Guiness goes so far as to say that objective truth is almost dead in the world. This is critical because, as he states in his book “Time for Truth: Living Free in a World of Lies, Hype, & Spin,” “Truth matters supremely because in the end, without truth there is no freedom … not only for individuals who would live a good life but for free societies that would remain free.”

Not only do we as a country — and world — no longer share a common, traditional understanding of right and wrong, we even question whether knowing right and wrong is humanly possible. Those who do have a clear understanding of it (many call this understanding morality) are deemed judgmental. And, as Guinness added, “When nothing can be judged except judgment itself — ‘judgmentalism’ — the barriers between the unthinkable, acceptable, and doable collapse entirely.”

Our world’s lack of absolute truth leads to chaos. But for many people today, as Guinness also pointed out, “There is no need for order, only liberty. Experiment therefore means open-ended experimentation. Nothing is fixed, everything is fluid and free; nothing is given, everything is up for grabs.” He continued: “[But] if everything is endlessly open to question and change, then everything is permitted, nothing is forbidden, and literally nothing is unthinkable.”

And here we are. Transgender men now need feminine hygiene products.

What will become of us? Kuby has ominous predictions. “I think this issue of sexuality is the main attack on the dignity of the human being” that will allow societies to “tumble into anarchy and chaos.” This, she claimed, “can result in a new totalitarian regime by the state.” Choosing one’s sexuality is the ultimate “freedom” that can be a step toward global tyranny. Only certain viewpoints will be legally accepted — e.g., transgenderism is natural and normal — and “judgmentalism” against the once-unthinkable will be increasingly and more severely condemned. Kuby added that such a population can be manipulated to believe and do anything.

Brown University might as well pass out crayons and teach students to believe they are once again four years old. Such instruction would require just as much delusion and make just as much sense as men needing tampons. But at some point, making this truth known might hold graver consequence. The truth, in this case, might not set us free in the future.
