Activists plan to rally Tuesday in more than 50 cities to protest abortion procedures that were recently exposed in two secretly taped Planned Parenthood videos that went viral.

The events are being called “Women Betrayed” and aim to press states to perform their own investigations into procedures at America’s largest abortion organization — and to eventually defund it.

“Women have been betrayed by Planned Parenthood. Families have been deceived. And the smallest among us have been the ultimate victims of Planned Parenthood’s horrific business schemes,” states a website created to coordinate the rallies.

“Enough is enough. It’s time to defund Planned Parenthood! And it can’t all happen in Washington! In fact, many cities and states fund Planned Parenthood with your local taxes!”

The events are being hosted by national pro-life organizations Students For Life of America and Pro-Life Future.

SFLA said in a news release that Planned Parenthood Federation of America “has betrayed the very patients — women and their children — who they claim to care about and have compassion for.” President Kristan Hawkins accused Planned Parenthood officials of callously profiting from women at a time when they are most vulnerable.

“Planned Parenthood gets a half a billion a year in taxpayer dollars. We are calling on every state and federal government to cut off those funds immediately and investigate Planned Parenthood for possible wrongdoing,” Hawkins said.

Hawkins noted that PPFA reported a net profit of $127 million in the 2013-2014 fiscal year, calling on the agency to “fund raise and support themselves like any other business in the country that isn’t deceiving women and making money off of taking the lives of the most vulnerable and selling their body parts.”

The pro-life groups are reacting to videos released on July 14 and July 21 by a group called The Center for Medical Progress, which show PPFA officials discussing how to sell fetal organs such as hearts, lungs and livers. The group’s president on Sunday said the organization “broke no laws,” and she accused the pro-life groups of a “smear” campaign.

No criminal charges have been filed against the organization, but at least three congressional committees plan oversight hearings in the coming weeks.
