They have not examined her. But many doctors are questioning Hillary Clinton’s health claims after the shaky incident over the weekend at a 9/11 memorial service in which she had to leave early and be helped into a van. Her campaign later released her doctor’s diagnosis of pneumonia and allergies.

She says she’ll provide more information in the coming days.

“I’m very skeptical [of her most recent diagnosis],” said Dr. Gerard Gianoli, a physician in private practice in Covington, Louisiana, and a faculty member at Tulane University School of Medicine. “If she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday, then why was there no press release? Given the scrutiny over her coughing spells, this would be an easy out for the Clinton campaign.”

Gianoli was among others on Monday who are questioning if the diagnosis was made with a chest X-ray or clinically (by a doctor listening to her chest). “One is fairly objective, whereas the other is subjective and has a fudge factor,” Gianoli told LifeZette. “Also, if she has pneumonia and that’s the cause of her cough, she’s had it a very long time.  Even if she does have pneumonia, I would be very skeptical that this explains everything we’ve seen.”

“I think it’s a distraction right now and it just doesn’t seem all that plausible to me,” Dr. Jane M. Orient, M.D., executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said on “The Laura Ingraham Show” on Monday. “I don’t know why she showed up at this outdoor event two days after she was diagnosed — I don’t know why she was feeling ‘great’ a few hours after her fainting spell. But the seasonal allergies have been around for a long, long time, and if she has such a terrible cough that’s caused only by season allergies, I think she needs a better allergist.”

If indeed she does have pneumonia and was only recently diagnosed, Orient added it would be unlikely that she would be out walking around shaking hands.

“I don’t think it would be smart to do, especially if she has walking pneumonia, as some people suggest. That might be contagious — how many people might she infect? Most people with pneumonia are sick, feverish, and they don’t want to get out of bed.”

If she was septic from pneumonia, Dr. Ramin Oskoui, a Washington, D.C.-based cardiologist, questions why she wasn’t she taken to the hospital. “Are they practicing VIP medicine? I wonder where and when did she have her chest X-ray? What antibiotics is she taking? Fainting in this context raises concern that her ‘pneumonia’ might not be responding to antibiotics,” Oskoui told LifeZette.

Gianoli added that antibiotics don’t do anything for dehydration and overheating — they only help kill off bacteria that may be causing the pneumonia, which is an infection of the lungs.

“Somewhat unpredictably, she can be seized with whatever has been bothering her,” said one physician.

“If she had started antibiotics on Friday, she should show some improvement in her physical status at this point. She shouldn’t be worse. If she really was dehydrated, then she gets dehydrated more than anyone I know and that is another medical problem that she needs looked into,” said Gianoli. “If she can’t handle a two-hour memorial ceremony, how can we be sure she can handle the rigors of the presidency? As a concerned voter, I would want Mrs. Clinton to release all of her medical records and undergo an independent medical exam with a neurology consult.”

Gianoli added that more physicians are willing to share their thoughts on this developing situation because “we are not being told the truth, or at least not the whole truth. Physicians are seeing things that don’t add up and feel obligated to say something. There has been intense pressure from the media to keep physicians quiet — and some are starting to take offense to this.”

“She seems to have something that is intermittent and between times she seems to look pretty well and perform pretty well, but then somewhat unpredictably she can be seized with whatever has been bothering her. Not just since Friday, but for a long time,” said Orient.

Both presidential and vice presidential candidates need to release their full unredacted medical records, said Oskoui. Trump may release his medical records as early as this week, he said.
