The Argentinean pontiff could be looking at a whole new flock of admirers — pop-rock fans — because of the release of his new album, entitled “Wake Up!”

PopeFrancis-WakeUp

While Pope Francis does not offer a melodic element to the tracks (unfortunately), his voice is present in various clips of his public speeches. The pope’s chants of hope are played over different pop and rock melodies, as well as Latin chants.

Released in Italy on Friday in a particularly reverent ceremony in the Vatican, this 11-track album is the newest medium in which the pope is communicating to believers.

While the pope unfortunately did not attend the release, one of the composers of the album, Dino Doni, said he hopes “the music may in some way help to deliver the message of Pope Francis,” SkyNews reported.

He said that those involved in the project ”took into consideration Pope Francis’ speeches, speeches he made in various countries around the world, with diverse themes.”

Doni along with Toni Pagliuca composed the album, and speaking on behalf of that creative team, Doni told the media: “We hope we have delivered a different arrangement for this work but also that we have managed to maintain the emotional and psychological aspect of the pope.”

The album is available only in Italy right now, but will be released Nov. 27 worldwide and is available for pre-order on iTunes.
