In a new video filmed a few days ago in Erbil, Iraq, Father Benedict Kiely discusses the persecution of Christians in northern Iraq.

The founder of www.nasarean.org, Kiely visited liberated towns in northern Iraq. On camera, he discussed what can be done to help Christians in these horribly war-torn areas and destroyed living conditions.

“The burning of their homes has almost robbed them of their hope, and they seem to have no sense of what the future’s going to bring,” said Fr. Kiely.

ISIS may not be in the towns — but this is not ending.

“From the very beginning, when I came here for the first time in May 2015, my impression has been … it’s the church, only the church, that’s helping the Christians,” Fr. Kiely said. “They’re providing housing, they’re providing food, some training programs.”

“We’ve been told this money will dry up very soon,” he added.

“Islamic extremism is not going away and our brethren are suffering,” Fr. Kiely said. “This is a spiritual problem. If Christians in the West are not actively helping their brethren at least by prayer … and not thinking the problem’s over… ISIS may not be in the towns — but this is not ending.”
