A baby boy rescued from floodwaters in Texas survived after a stranger started CPR on him — and a woman prayed.

“This baby is gonna die if we don’t start CPR fast,” Tom Mitchell, the rescuer, told WFAA-TV. “Having a negative feeling coming over me. This baby may not make it — this baby may not make it. No reaction, nothing is happening.”

“Dear Jesus, please let this baby breathe.”

Near Myrtle Springs, Texas, a father and his two children were caught in their vehicle in a storm. The car flipped upside down and was surrounded by rushing water — nearly killing an eighteen-month-old and four-month-old infant.

A group of people helped rescue the three family members. The video footage that Mitchell’s cell phone captured is surreal. Watch the video clip posted to Facebook below:

“It was 10 miles north of Canton, just after the tornadoes hit Texas on Saturday, leaving four people dead and more than 50 injured,” WFAA-TV, a local ABC affiliate, reported.

Mitchell placed his phone in his pocket as he started rescue efforts on the infant child.

“Dear Jesus, please let this baby breathe,” a woman prayed over Mitchell’s shoulder. “Dear Jesus, please let this baby breathe.”

Mitchell’s description is stunning.

“Well, the first prayer she said, I felt a response in that child,” Mitchell told WFAA-TV.

Thanks to a few strangers on the road, the power of prayer, and the grace of God — this baby lived to see another day.

“Update on Addy bug, she is stable and doing much better,” the child’s father posted on social media Sunday, referring to his toddler, Addy. “Still under sedation but pulling the breathing tube in the morning to see if she can do it on her own.”

The baby, Marshall, was released from the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
