On Good Friday, a day that forever changed history, Christians remember how Jesus gave up His life to forgive the sins of the world.

Here are seven readings or videos worth reflection during this solemn day.

1.) The Gospel of John. Pick up your Bible or open the YouVersion Bible app — and read about Jesus’ miracles and time on earth. Let the words and wisdom of the Savior soak into your mind. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me,” Jesus tells His disciples in John 16:32-33. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2.) “Why I Call It Good Friday.” This video is from Igniter Media, a company that makes mini-movies and other productions that direct people to Christ. “The enemy thought it was going to be a bad day. We now call it good,” the narrator says in this super-short but inspirational clip.

5.) The Passion. Read about Jesus’ last hours in Matthew 27:27-61, Mark 15:16-47, Luke 23:26-56, and John 19:16-42. God sent His only son to Earth for the sins of everyone. Good Friday is the perfect day to reread this powerful story found in New Testament scripture.

6.) “The Passion of the Christ.” Scenes from the Mel Gibson movie “The Passion of the Christ,” offer vivid and graphic details that make the scripture verses come to life.
