Americans are sorely divided over NFL players’ protests against the national anthem, our country, and our president.

Father Mike Schmitz, chaplain for Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Minnesota Duluth, examines the issue through the lens of Christian life.

“Football has recently become a forum to look at where patriotism and protest intersect. The last thing most NFL fans want is for the NFL to get political, yet with the recent national anthem protests around the league, that seems to be what’s happening,” a description about his most recent video begins.

“How do we take a stance that is Christian and respectful amidst such deep-rooted tension? In this video, Fr. Mike lays out a game plan for us, and it starts with looking within,” it continues.
