Why Roe v. Wade Is Still a Black Mark on American Society

For those who champion life in all its forms and who work tirelessly to protect the future of the unborn, today marks a sad anniversary in American society. It is exactly 45 years since the handing down of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in this country.

Since 1973, about 60 million unborn babies have died as a result of abortion, as reported by LifeNews.com — nearly 90 times the number of U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in every war since 1775, as the American Family Association notes.

And for Christians across this country who know that God is the ultimate giver of life, that is 60 million too many.

Throughout this month of January 2018, Sanctity of Human Life Month, the American Pastors Network (APN) has been urging churches to keep life issues at the forefront. It has also encouraged pastors to preach the whole counsel of God regarding this vital issue in our culture.

“We pray 2018 will be the year that not one tax dollar ever goes toward abortion again,” said Sam Rohrer, president of the American Pastors Network, in a statement. “And that the nation’s justices will stand for life, no longer allowing the killing of innocent babies to be stain on the pages of our nation’s history.”

Rohrer added, “Although life is precious every day of the year, Sanctity of Human Life Month is a time when pastors and churches can truly focus on protecting life in their communities. We can no longer ignore abortion in our churches. Many may be struggling with the scars of abortion in their own lives, and looking to the church for help, healing and restoration. Additionally, we must equip our people to stand up for the sanctity of life in their own communities, states and across the nation.”

Today at noon EST, Rohrer discusses these vital issues with pro-life champion Kim Ketola on “Stand in the Gap Today,” the radio ministry of the American Pastors Network.

She is using her “faith to unveil one of the biggest untold stories of our time — the spiritual impact of abortion on the women and men who choose it, as well as the hope available to make a better choice.”

Through her ministry Cradle My Heart, Ketola stands for life and promotes healing after unintended pregnancy; she also shares her own experience with abortion at age 23.

Ketola’s own radio program, “Cradle My Heart Today,” provides daily inspiration to help others choose and defend life; she has a one-minute radio feature that airs on more than 800 stations. She is using her “faith to unveil one of the biggest untold stories of our time — the spiritual impact of abortion on the women and men who choose it, as well as the hope available to make a better choice,” according to a statement from APN.
