The first family of the United States unveiled its holiday card earlier this week, just one of many other steps that complete President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to start saying “Merry Christmas” again in this country — and signaling to the rest of the world what a huge difference a year can make.

Embossed in gilded script, the traditional sentiment inside the Trump family Christmas card, signed by President Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and their young son, Barron, reflects the reason for the season — Christ’s glorious Nativity.

The gesture also elevates Christmas to its proper, and original, place in American culture as a religious and Christian holiday — not merely a secular shopping extravaganza, or another excuse to party.

The Trump Christmas card is also a refreshing and long overdue departure from the Obama family’s politically correct “Happy Holidays” message last year and in other years, devoid of any real meaning.

And while a shift in wording from “Happy Holidays” to “Merry Christmas” might seem insignificant to those who hold a secular view of the holiday altogether, to others, especially Christians, this is one of the holiest days of the year, met with joy and anticipation.

This pathos is reflected in the lyrics of a popular Christmas carol: “O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him born the King of angels. O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord … ”

This pathos is reflected in the lyrics of a popular Christmas carol: “O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant …”

Still, there’s even more to “Making Christmas Great Again” for President Trump and his family.

On Monday, first lady Melania Trump — a paragon of grace and elegance — debuted the 2017 White House Christmas decorations in a video that stuns and inspires. At this writing, there have already been nearly 900,000 views.

The first lady also convened a special gathering of more than 150 volunteers, from 29 states, according to the White House’s official website. These volunteers helped transform the executive mansion into a stunning winter wonderland.

With “time-honored traditions,” 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is paying homage to the past, including a nod to Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite,” which served as the first White House Christmas theme in 1961. There is also a Gold Star Family Tree, honoring American service members, that is on display in the East Wing of the White House.

Wrote one poster on YouTube, “Your White House has class now … beautiful, sophisticated and classy presidency!”

Yet even more spectacular than the opulent Christmas trees, adorned with thousands of crystal ornaments currently gracing the grand rooms and capacious halls of the White House, is a return to the very first Christmas with an emphasis on a traditional Nativity scene — humble, yet lacking nothing.

In it, baby Jesus, wearing a crown, is flanked by the Virgin Mary, Joseph, and the Magi from the East. The three wise men are bearings gifts worthy of a king — the one who took on flesh so that we may inherit His Kingdom.

This is the essence of Christmas.
