This is a message for that one person who has a hard time standing against the crowd.

I don’t know what you face every day, but I know that standing up to the crowd is hard. How many times when you’ve been talking to your parents do you use this same argument: “Well, everyone else is doing it. Why can’t I?”

“I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world than stand with the world and be judged by God.”

If your parents are like mine, you know this is the worst thing you could say to get your point across. If I have learned anything from what my mom has told me about the “everyone else” attitude, it’s that we should never want to do what everyone else is doing.

Let’s take a look at what everyone else is doing. Take having a boyfriend or girlfriend in high school, for example. I know a girl who is 12 years old who is dating a 16-year-old. If you can get married at 18, at the earliest, why do you want to play the dating game several years before that?

Or how about you’re on a sports team and you’re so happy about the practice you just had. You get to the locker room — and one of your teammates offers you a smoke or a look at what she’s pulled up on her screen. Or all the girls are wearing tight, revealing, and shorter-than-short, provocative clothes — and you’re not. Or all everyone talks about is worldly desires and pleasures and you’re not.

You feel as if you’re all alone in a big world and you’re being judged by others because of what you stand for, and the whole world is closing in on you. Instead of doing what you know is the right thing, you roll with it and justify what you do because “everyone else is doing it.” Instead of fleeing, you justify why you stayed — even though you knew it was wrong.

Friend, if you think you’re the only one standing — because the group of people who are standing against the crowd is small and hard to find — you may be right.

But here’s a quote I like that I repeat to myself. It’s from the movie “God’s Not Dead 2”: “I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world, than stand with the world and be judged by God.”

I would rather stand with God. You may think you’re the only one standing, but the same God who you are standing for is right there with you.

Think about it: If God is for me, who can be against me? If God is with you, why should you care what other people say?

I know it’s going to be hard and I know sometimes you are going to fall. But when you feel weak, cry out to Jesus and fall on Him. He’s right there waiting for you; all you have to do is go to Him and let Him carry you.

On the cross, God defeated every one of the temptations you face every day. The victory is ours — and I challenge you to call out the victories in your day-to-day life.

Since we are the children of Jesus, who has already beaten everything, the victory has already been won — and we can claim that as our own. I do it every weekday and I pray that you will have the courage, no matter what the outcome, to stand on what God says.  Love the things God loves and hate the things God hates. Read His word every day and don’t just read it, meditate on it — it is God’s word to you. Jesus loves you!

May God and His mighty angels be with you.
