At one of country music’s biggest nights, singers at the top of their game reminded Americans to give credit back to God.

One of the top winners at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Sunday night in Las Vegas, humbly accepted multiple awards.

We give this world back to God.

“I gotta thank God for this — I’m overwhelmed,” Thomas Rhett said upon accepting the Song of the Year award.

“I didn’t think this was going to happen. Thank you so much,” he added.

Rhett walked away with two awards at the 52nd annual country music event: Song of the Year, for “Die a Happy Man,” and also Male Vocalist of the Year.

He thanked God in both of his acceptance speeches.

Rhett, 27, said his wife Lauren — his high school sweetheart — was the inspiration for “Die a Happy Man.” Rhett was “surprised and honored” to be in the male vocalist of the year category with fellow country artists Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, and Chris Stapleton.

“Everyone in this category shaped the artist that I am,” Rhett said when he accepted the Male Vocalist of the Year award. He also thanked God in his speech for this additional award.

In a powerful vocal duet performance, the iconic Reba McEntire and the contemporary Christian artist Lauren Daigle performed a new version of Reba’s gospel single, “Back to God.”

“We gotta give this world back to God,” McEntire and Daigle sang.

Announcing McEntire and Daigle at the ceremony, country music artist Ronnie Dunn said that spiritual and gospel music plays “a really big part in what we do in our genre.”

The duo released their version of “Back to God” to digital producers on Sunday.

“We give this world back to God,” McEntire says in the song.

Watching the ACMs was an absolutely refreshing change from the overly politicized award shows so many Americans have been exposed to — and these stars put God at the center of their success.
