President Donald Trump has decided on an ambassador to the Vatican, a new report claims.

Trump will tap Callista Gingrich, 51, the wife of former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, to tackle the job of U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, according to multiple news outlets.

“I have always been a very spiritual person.”

“Two people with direct knowledge of the discussions said President Donald Trump will nominate Callista Gingrich for the post,” the Associated Press reported May 15. “The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly before an official announcement.”

But who exactly is Callista Gingrich?

“Mr. Trump has known Newt and Callista Gingrich socially for years,” The New York Times reported in January. “They’re members of his golf club in Virginia and have been at his club, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, [Florida]. Mr. Gingrich was one of the people Mr. Trump consulted in 2015 when he had already determined he would run for president.”

4.) She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 1988 with a major in music. The Gingriches fund an annual scholarship for instrumental music majors at Luther. She currently plays the French horn in a city band in Fairfax, Virginia.

5.) A devout Catholic, she also sings in the choir at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

“It might make me biased, but I think that her years of singing in the choir at the National Shrine has given her a backstage pass to some of the most important events in the life in the church in the United States, including two papal visits,” John Schlageter, executive director of the Bethlehem University Foundation, said, according to the Catholic News Service.

The announcement may be made official before President Trump’s May 24 visit to the Vatican.

“I have always been a very spiritual person,” Callista told the Christian Broadcasting Network in 2011. “I start each day with a prayer, and pray throughout the day, because I am grateful for the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us.”
