Billionaire businessman Stephen Cloobeck has ended his support for Rep. Eric Swalwell and told the California congressman he is no longer welcome at his residence following allegations of sexual misconduct that prompted Swalwell to suspend his campaign for governor.
Cloobeck, the founder of Diamond Resorts, had backed Swalwell for several years, contributing to both his primary and general election campaigns.
According to records, Cloobeck donated a total of $23,400 between 2017 and 2023.
He also provided additional gifts to the congressman, including a $39,900 flight to Nice, France, as disclosed in congressional filings.

The shift came within hours of Swalwell’s announcement that he would suspend his gubernatorial campaign.
Cloobeck made his position clear in interviews with the New York Post and Fox 11 Los Angeles.
"I am no longer supporting Eric. F---ing tell everyone I’m a libertarian. F**k you, Democrat Party. I’m a libertarian now," Cloobeck told the Post.
In a separate interview, Cloobeck indicated a further change in political affiliation.

"I am now a Republican," he said to Fox 11 LA.
Cloobeck also confirmed that Swalwell would no longer be permitted to stay at his California property, which he described in detail while explaining his decision.
"I have a lot of people who stay at my house. I built a gorgeous place, my dream home, I relish it, and I’m a very generous man. I’m very thoughtful and I’m very kind," Cloobeck said.

The break between the two follows a series of allegations that surfaced earlier this month and intensified in recent days.
A report published by the San Francisco Chronicle outlined claims involving alleged behavior by Swalwell, including accusations related to interactions with women.
Additional attention was drawn to the matter after Cheyenne Hunt, a former Capitol Hill staffer and political media figure, shared statements from individuals who accused Swalwell of misconduct.
"The Democratic candidate currently leading in the California governor’s race has a known history of being predatory towards women," Hunt said in a social media post.
Swalwell has denied the criminal allegations and has said he intends to contest them. In announcing his decision to suspend his campaign, he emphasized that he would address the accusations personally.
"I am suspending my campaign for governor. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not the campaign’s," Swalwell said in a post to X.
The developments also prompted reactions from other Democratic leaders.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of the party called for Swalwell to exit the race, adding to the pressure that ultimately led to the suspension of his campaign.

Cloobeck suggested his decision could extend beyond his relationship with Swalwell, indicating broader dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party.
"I’m going to change my Godd*mn party affiliation, because I cannot stand this Democratic Party at all," he said.
"I am done. Finito."
It remains unclear whether Cloobeck will support another candidate in the California gubernatorial race.
He did not immediately respond to inquiries about whether he would consider backing a Republican contender.
The situation marks a significant shift for a donor who had previously supported Swalwell for years, and it adds to the ongoing developments surrounding the allegations and their impact on the California governor’s race.
