Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer attempted to seize on negative media coverage of President Donald Trump’s early approval ratings this week, citing polls that suggest Trump’s first 100 days in office received poor marks from the public.
However, Schumer was immediately pressed about his own standing with voters after a separate poll showed his personal approval rating had dropped to just 17%.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Schumer referenced a widely circulated NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll that claimed twice as many Americans gave President Trump a failing grade for his first 100 days in office compared to those who gave him an A.

“Twice as many people said President Trump deserves a grade of F rather than an A for how he’s handled his first 100 days,” the NPR article stated.
According to the poll, 45% of respondents said Trump deserved an F, while 23% gave him an A.
The poll also noted that 50% of independents gave the president a failing grade, and that only a slim majority of Republicans rated his performance at the top.
Schumer seized on the numbers during the presser.

“The polls this week show Trump has the lowest 100-day approval rating since they started polling 80 years ago! The lowest!” he said.
But the moment was short-lived. A reporter quickly countered with a separate polling result that reflected poorly on Schumer himself.
“There’s a poll out today that has your approval rating lower than any other Congressional leader at 17%. Are you concerned that you may be a liability for your party?” the reporter asked.
Schumer brushed off the question. “Polls come and go! Our party is united! We’re on our front foot, we’re stepping forward and going after Trump and having real success,” he said.

Despite Schumer’s response, the low approval rating poses a potential challenge as the Democratic Party navigates its messaging strategy against a sitting president who remains a dominant force in national politics.
Meanwhile, CNN’s own polling analyst Harry Enten offered a different perspective on Trump’s standing.
Enten noted that, despite some media coverage suggesting weak approval numbers, President Trump’s polling metrics remain strong enough to keep him firmly in control of the Republican Party and politically competitive on the national stage.

Polls from several organizations have shown varying results depending on sample size, question wording, and methodology.
While some show Trump facing continued opposition among Democrat-aligned respondents, other data suggests he retains overwhelming support from Republican voters and has improved his numbers with key voter blocs, including independents and working-class Americans.
The NPR/PBS/Marist poll that Schumer cited comes amid ongoing criticism from conservatives who argue that traditional media outlets often use polling selectively to shape narratives.
Others note that national polling has struggled in recent election cycles to accurately measure support for outsider candidates, particularly in battleground states.
President Trump, who recently marked his first 100 days of his second term in office, has continued to press forward with his agenda, including executive orders on border security, energy, and education.
Despite criticism from Democratic leadership, his administration maintains that polling data does not change the White House’s commitment to policy implementation and legislative priorities.

It is an NPR/PBS Poll! Of course it is a fabrication. NPR/PBS is not a news agency, it is a propaganda agency and always has been. If they are “reporting” something, you can rest assured the “facts” are fake or twisted. Certainly, Trump’s move to cut their funding has nothing to do with their poll results. Read “How To Lie With Statistics” by Darrell Huff.
Right on target, when have we ever heard anything from NPR or PBS that was not left leaning, much less accurate in any respect.
The democrats have nothing at all to run on. Notice they are not running in their miserable record of the past four years. So they have to try and destroy Trump and everything good he’s done through lying. Ie, they are willing to destroy any gains for the American people in order to get their power back. This is pure evil!!
You can make a poll say whatever you want it to. Ask the right people. Ask the specially worded question. You get the poll number you want.
Polls are BS.
Anyone with a BRAIN will DISCOUNT the findings of ALL POLLS, after watching the last 12 years of elections PROVES the polls are BULLCRAP, PERIOD!!!
Schumer is tribe, and like a significant majority of tribe across the West – 70-75% – yearns for the “good old days” of their Messiahs – Lenin and Stalin.
One more reason for TERM LIMITATTIONS. We need to clean out the Dead Wood in BOTH parties.
The DEMS are on the wrong side of every position with the American people. Please keep doing what you are doing so the country will remain RED. Thnak you.
We need to enact the Convention of States. We need 35 states to agree and we have only 26 currently. Once we get the 35, a Constitutionl Covention can we called and the first job is to set term limits for Congress and remove their lifetime salaries even if defeated in office. Once that is enacted we weill have more money in the treasury to help Americnas and not just the elite. It’s a first step in returning America to the people.
