At a recent left-wing protest in Los Angeles, California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters took her usual unhinged rhetoric up a notch—this time aiming her fire at the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.

As Fox News reported, Waters, known for her off-the-rails outbursts, floated the idea of deporting Melania during a rally against the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a Trump administration initiative focused on rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse across bloated federal agencies.

Apparently, asking bureaucrats to do their jobs better is now protest-worthy on the Left.

But instead of sticking to the topic of federal audits, Waters veered off into a wild tangent about immigration, birthright citizenship, and, somehow, Melania Trump. Speaking from the stage, Waters said:

“When he [Trump] talks about birthright, and he’s going to undo the fact that the Constitution allows those who are born here, even if the parents are undocumented, they have a right to stay in America. If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania.”

She didn’t stop there.

“We don’t know whether or not her parents were documented. And maybe we better just take a look.”

Let’s clear up what Waters apparently refuses to Google. Melania Trump legally immigrated from what is now Slovenia. She became a U.S. citizen in 2006—long before her husband entered politics.

According to official government records, she is the first First Lady to be a naturalized citizen and only the second First Lady born outside the U.S.

Furthermore, Melania legally sponsored her parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, for green cards and later citizenship. They became U.S. citizens in 2018, despite the left’s baseless accusations of “chain migration” hypocrisy.

Melania Trump and Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump attend the Trumpettes Gala at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in Palm Beach, Florida.

Amalija passed away in 2024, and Viktor has remained a quiet presence in the Trump family, recently spotted beside Barron Trump at the inauguration.

Waters’ off-base comments came amid her protest against President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting birthright citizenship.

The EO, signed on day one of his second term, aims to clarify that the 14th Amendment does not apply to children born to illegal immigrants or those temporarily in the U.S. on non-immigrant visas.

Unsurprisingly, the Left is challenging it in court, and the case now heads to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Waters also railed against Trump and Elon Musk, whom she bizarrely dubbed the “co-president.” She told the crowd:

“We are not going to let Trump, we’re not going to let Elon Musk… take the United States Constitution down.”

The irony? She had just called for investigating a naturalized American citizen based on speculation about her parents.

Clips of Waters’ rant are circulating on TikTok and X, where conservatives are calling out her blatant xenophobic hypocrisy.

The same crowd that lectures Americans about inclusion and tolerance cheered on a congresswoman floating the deportation of a legal immigrant. So much for principles.
