The Justice Department has revealed criminal charges against three men tied to an Iran-backed murder plot aimed at former President Donald Trump.
The allegations, unsealed on Friday, detail a disturbing plan to kill Trump, reportedly orchestrated by Iran’s paramilitary force, the Revolutionary Guard, as tensions with the U.S. surged, as reported by The Daily Mail.
According to the criminal complaint, which was filed in Manhattan, an unnamed Iranian official in the Revolutionary Guard began plotting in September, instructing a contact to carry out surveillance and ultimately execute a plan to assassinate Trump.

Farjad Shakeri, 51, allegedly served as the main contact for this scheme, but remains at large in Iran. The other two suspects, Carlisle Rivera, 49, and Jonathon Loadholt, 36, were apprehended in New York. The complaint reveals that Shakeri was unable to pull off the plot before the election, leaving the plan unfulfilled.
The Justice Department’s move to unseal these charges sheds light on the international threats faced by Trump during his presidency and the persistent dangers posed by hostile foreign powers, particularly those with deep-rooted animosity toward the U.S. Shakeri’s suspected role aligns with past accusations against Iran, whose hardline paramilitary arms have a history of aggression toward American interests and figures.
The complaint highlights how the Revolutionary Guard allegedly sought to use American soil for its politically motivated assassination.
As the Department of Justice continues to pursue Shakeri, the case underscores ongoing security challenges for prominent American leaders and the aggressive stance Iran has taken in recent years.
Despite the foiled attempt, Iran’s continued hostility remains a looming threat, requiring vigilance from national security agencies. This incident adds to a list of attempted attacks on American soil attributed to foreign adversaries, suggesting that the global political climate is far from cooling down.

The arrest of Rivera and Loadholt points to a small victory for the Justice Department, as they remain committed to holding accountable those involved in foreign-backed plots on U.S. citizens and leaders.
However, with Shakeri still hiding in Iran, justice is only partially served. The nation now waits to see how authorities will handle this brazen attempt to target a former president.
