CNN broadcaster John Berman was slammed by Republican Rep. Byron Donalds after a deceptively edited clip from a Donald Trump rally was used in an interview on their supposed news network.

The Florida lawmaker was speaking with Berman the morning after Trump’s Green Bay, WI, rally in which he spoke wearing a garbage collector’s uniform. It was the former president’s comments, however, which were the focus of CNN’s morning broadcast.

A clip in which Trump said he would protect women “whether they like it or not” was used in Thursday morning’s interview. However, the full quote, which was omitted, was: “[My advisors] said, ‘Sir, I just think it’s inappropriate for you to say.’ I pay these guys a lot of money; can you believe it? I said, ‘Well, I’m going to do it whether the women like it or not. I’m going to protect them. I’m going to protect them from migrants coming in. I’m going to protect them from foreign countries that want to hit us with missiles and lots of other things.’”

The latter part of the Republican’s remarks were cut off, before Berman asked Donalds, “Why is Donald Trump telling women he will do things whether they like it or not?”

“John, that is grossly inaccurate what you just played. Play the full clip. Play it in its context,” replied the GOP lawmaker. “He was talking about the tragedy at our southern border that led to the death of Jocelyn Nungaray.”

Adding that Jocelyn’s family had endorsed Trump, Donalds added, “He was telling a joke about how some of the staff said, ‘No don’t say you would protect women because they would take it out of context’ – obviously what CNN is doing right now.”

Despite acknowledging that House Rep. had the right context, Berman pressed on over Trump’s choice of words, prompting a livid Donalds to reply, “John, you need to stop.”

So deceptive was Kamala, that to CNN’s credit, even Jake Tapper debunked it elsewhere.

Many sided with the Republican while criticizing the CNN broadcaster.

Others noted that the network still refused to play the full clip despite Donalds’ requests.
