Former President Donald Trump has once again found himself the target of an assassination attempt, and he’s placing the blame squarely on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Trump said the would-be attacker, Ryan Wesley Routh, was incited by the Democrats’ fiery rhetoric. Trump stated, “He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it. Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying it.”
The suspect, Routh, 58, was discovered hiding near Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course, armed with an AK-47-style rifle and a GoPro camera, seemingly ready to record the attack.

Secret Service agents intercepted Routh before he could open fire, but Trump isn’t letting the incident pass without pointing fingers. He emphasized how Biden and Harris have repeatedly portrayed him as a threat to democracy, remarks which, according to Trump, are stoking violence.
Trump didn’t mince words, referring to the current administration as the “enemy from within.” He warned that Biden and Harris are the real threats to the country, not him. “They are destroying our country from the inside out,” he declared, highlighting his belief that their policies, particularly regarding immigration, are weakening America.
Routh, who has a history of supporting progressive causes and donating to Democratic candidates, used language eerily similar to that of the Democratic leadership, as reported by the New York Post.
In fact, Routh has been vocal about his belief in the Democratic talking point that “democracy is on the ballot,” a phrase Biden himself has often used. This has led Trump to suggest that the Democrats’ rhetoric directly influenced Routh’s attempt on his life.
Kamala Harris has consistently called President Trump a “dictator” and “a threat to democracy.”

This was not the first attempt on Trump’s life this year. Back in July, a separate incident occurred during a rally in Pennsylvania where a gunman fired a shot at Trump. The assailant, Thomas Crooks, was also apparently motivated by anti-Trump sentiment, a pattern Trump points out as a dangerous trend tied to the Democrats’ messaging.
As reported by Fox News, Trump continues to stand firm in his belief that the media and Democrats are aligned in a coordinated effort to tarnish his image and silence him through both rhetoric and legal actions. He accused the media of being complicit in spreading false narratives and protecting Democrats at all costs. In his typical blunt style, Trump remarked, “The media is made up of fools that will spew [Democrats’] garbage… and protect them at all costs.”
With Election Day drawing closer, Trump has issued a stern warning to Democrats: watch the rhetoric.
