Former President Donald Trump is making headlines for an act of kindness that has struck a chord with many.

On Thursday, a video of an eight-year-old boy named Liam from New York was posted to X (formerly Twitter), featuring the child receiving a special birthday letter from Trump.

Liam, who suffers from a rare brain disorder and growth hormone deficiency, was moved to tears upon realizing who the letter was from.

The letter, signed by Trump, was a personal note wishing Liam a happy birthday and offering words of encouragement.

Trump expressed admiration for the strength and determination Liam has shown in his young life. The letter read:

Dear Liam,

Happy 8th birthday. Mrs. Trump and I hope you enjoy this special occasion surrounded by the love of your family and friends. We are so encouraged by the strength and determination you have shown throughout your young life, and send our love and best wishes to you as you continue to fight. Remember, you are never alone and we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers for continued care and good health.

May God bless you and your family. Stay strong.

Sincerely,

Donald Trump

The moment was captured on video, where Liam asked his mother to read the letter out loud.

His sweet reaction included a heartfelt “Thank you” and “I love you” directed toward Trump, along with a gesture in sign language.

The video was shared by podcaster Kevin Smith, who said the family had sent the letter to him, noting that Trump didn’t seek any recognition for the act.

What made the scene even more touching was the fact that Liam was wearing a shirt that said, “It’s a Donnie Thing, you just wouldn’t understand,” a sign of his admiration for the former president.

Liam’s family, knowing how much the letter would mean to him, wanted to make sure it brought a smile to his face on his special day.

Social media quickly took notice of the gesture, with users praising Trump for his quiet act of kindness.

One user wrote, “Trump is a good man. He doesn’t do this and then publicise it. He does it because he knows it’ll warm that kid’s heart and that’s all he needs.” Another person commented on Trump’s history of similar acts, sharing that Trump had sent a hand-signed letter to a friend for their retirement, an action never publicized by the former president.

This isn’t the first time Trump has been praised for such personal gestures.

During his time in office, he frequently took steps to connect with individuals in need of support.

In one memorable instance, Trump left the safety of his protective bulletproof glass at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, to check on an elderly woman who had felt faint due to the heat. Despite the increased security risk, Trump approached the crowd to personally offer his well-wishes and a hug.

While these stories rarely make it into mainstream media, they provide a glimpse into the more personal, human side of Trump.

His supporters argue that these acts, often ignored by the press, reflect the compassion that much of the public doesn’t get to see.
