In a recent broadcast of MSNBC’s “ReidOut,” host Joy Reid claimed that both individuals who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump were “white, American, Trump-supporting men with guns.” Reid used the incident to push the narrative that conservatives and Trump supporters are the real source of violence in the United States while ignoring broader context or violence from other political sides, as reported by Breitbart.

Reid’s comments focused heavily on linking these assassination attempts to Trump supporters, trying to drive home the point that MAGA Republicans are the ones responsible for escalating violence. “This is what we’re seeing from MAGA Republicans, whether it’s January 6 or threats against election workers,” Reid remarked.

She continued by attacking Republican Senate candidate JD Vance (R-OH) for supposedly encouraging more chaos through what she called “literal terrorism” by spreading allegations about Haitian migrants in Ohio.

Reid’s show further criticized the GOP, particularly Trump and Vance, for their so-called “fear-mongering” about migrants. Reid contended that Trump and Vance have both tried to shift focus away from their own political shortcomings by fabricating stories, like claims of immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

This accusation came despite no solid evidence supporting such allegations. Reid didn’t hold back, either, in linking Trump’s rhetoric to the violence he has faced, calling his recent posts “dangerous” for their supposed contribution to ongoing political tension.

Overseas Hoaxes Add to Chaos

While Reid was blaming Trump supporters for violence, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine revealed that many of the bomb threats plaguing Springfield were actually hoaxes originating from overseas. He assured citizens that the threats posed no real danger, as none of them materialized. According to DeWine, “We cannot let the bad guys win. Our schools must remain open.” This crucial detail counters Reid’s portrayal of the threats as primarily domestic, MAGA-driven attacks, as reported by Fox News.

Conveniently Ignoring Leftist Violence

Reid, unsurprisingly, chose not to mention any left-wing rhetoric that could have played a role in the recent assassination attempts or violence. The media has consistently portrayed Trump as a grave threat to democracy, fueling hostilities from all political angles. Yet, Reid conveniently left out that Thomas Crooks, one of the would-be assassins, had once donated to ActBlue, a Democrat fundraising platform, despite being a registered Republican.

As usual, Reid’s one-sided take paints conservatives as the primary perpetrators of violence, without offering a more balanced perspective on political violence in America.
