Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has joined calls for a boycott of Fox News after the sidelining of prime-time host Tucker Carlson.

Favre posted a message on social media stating, “I’m with Tucker. Time to boycott Fox until they come to their senses and let the man speak,” while also sharing a clip of former Fox News host Megyn Kelly criticizing the network’s actions.

Kelly went on in the interview to explain:

“They are banking on you coming back to them. They’ve got a debate in August. You can’t resist. You’ll go. You’ll forgive everything. They’re banking on it. DeSantis is likely to announce this month. You’re gonna turn on Fox News. You can’t go to CNN. You’re not gonna go to Newsmax. You’re not going to go to digital media. You’re gonna tune in to the Fox News primetime, you lap dogs. It’s what you always do. It’s how they have billions.

That’s what’s happening here. Keep him silent on the sidelines for as long as possible, unable to use his voice on any of these things — on Fox, on politics, on anything. And we will win in the end, like we always do.”

Breitbart News recently reported that Fox News executives are attempting to sideline Carlson through the 2024 presidential election.

Carlson’s contract runs through the election, but sources say that he is trying to negotiate an exit package. Breitbart’s Washington Bureau Chief, Matthew Boyle, said that the Murdochs and their allies “were getting increasingly unnerved by the third rail topics that Tucker was regularly hitting on his show.”

Despite leaks to leftist media outlets criticizing Carlson’s behavior, a recent survey from The Economist/YouGov found that a plurality view Carlson at least somewhat favorably. Most Republicans and Trump 2020 voters, 68 percent and 72 percent respectively, feel the same way.

The sidelining of Carlson has sparked controversy, with many conservative figures criticizing Fox News. Donald Trump Jr. has also voiced his support for Carlson, stating that he “needs to continue to be heard.”

Carlson is reportedly gearing up to fight back against Fox News and secure his freedom to speak out, potentially even moving to another network. This follows recent revelations that the network is “banking” on viewers returning when the primaries begin to heat up.
