FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – According to reports, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation is opening an investigation into an allegedly explicit drag queen performance held in Ft. Lauderdale earlier in December that apparently admitted all ages to the event so long as minors were accompanied by a parent. The group responsible for the drag event allegedly has a history of putting on sexually graphic drag queen shows were “simulated sex acts,” and overt nudity is commonplace.

The event production team known as Murray & Peter Present, which appears to be an event production team maintained by or affiliated with Canadian pro-LGBT activist Murray Corren, launched the national tour this past November of “A Drag Queen Christmas,” which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like – drag queens doing some bastardized iteration of a Christmas event/show.

Come December 26th, this show made its way into Florida, with one show taking place at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale and three subsequent shows in being held in Miami, Orlando, and Clearwater the following days.

According to the event details listed on a still-live event information page for the Ft. Lauderdale show, the drag queen show bore an advisory that it contained “adult themes and content” and was only intended for audiences aged 18 years or older – but with one glaring caveat: children under the age of 18 were able to be admitted if accompanied by an adult.

“For the 8th consecutive year, Murray & Peter present, ‘A Drag Queen Christmas.’ Get ready for your favorite queens performing live on stage. We’ve got Winners, Fan Favorites and Miss Congeniality…This performance has adult themes and content. Admission is limited to patrons 18 years of age or over, unless accompanied by a parent.”

Whatever the proclaimed “adult themes and content” consisted of wasn’t exactly clear to prospective attendees, as the advertisements for the performance didn’t go into specifics on what attendees would be exposed to. However, based upon footage obtained by Libs of TikTok earlier in December from the show’s Austin, Texas, performance, this drag queen show was hardly anything appropriate for children under the age of 18.

As seen in the above video, aside from the crude subject matter of the drag queen’s jokes, the individual can be seen exposing his rear while having spectators insert dollar bills into his underwear, all while adorning some fake breasts with the nipples exposed.

Independent journalist Tayler Hansen also exposed more of what this drag show entails, sharing video evidence of literal children being brought up to the stage where they directly engaged with the drag queens who’d been performing sexualized versions of Christmas songs.

On December 21st, Libs of TikTok sounded the alarm about this show making its way to Florida, tagging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and detailing what would encompass this “family-friendly” drag show.

“The same group who put on an extremely graphic “family-friendly” drag show which featured simulated sex acts, exposed buttholes, and oversized fake exposed breasts is performing this show in Florida on Monday.”

Apparently, officials in Florida have taken notice of this drag show where children are allowed to attend, mentioning in a statement that the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is reviewing all video and photos obtained from the Ft. Lauderdale show and will share their findings with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement “for potential criminal liability” stemming from the explicit performances featured.

“The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is aware of multiple complaints about a sexually explicit performance marketed to children held in Fort Lauderdale on December 26th. The Department is actively investigating this matter, including video footage and photographs from the event. The DBPR will, like in other cases, take action. Exposing children to sexually explicit activity is a crime in Florida, and such action violates the Department’s licensing standards for operating a business and holding a liquor license. The Department will share any collected evidence with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for potential criminal liability. The Department frequently conducts investigations into these matters upon tips provided by the public, and we thank the public for continuing to bring attention to these incidents. Investigations of such allegations will remain a priority for the Department and, indeed, are ongoing.”

Explicit drag shows where children were reportedly in attendance has been a hot button issue in Florida over the past year, with Governor DeSantis having filed a complaint this past July against a Miami establishment, R House, for hosting a drag queen brunch event where performers were seen physically interacting with children while being adorned in near-nude lingerie.

In Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation complaint filed in July over the antics taking place in the R House, the complaint went into detail over the obscene displays that occurred in front of – and with – children.

“The video shows what appears to be a transgender dancer leading a young girl by the hand and walking through Respondent’s dining area. The dancer’s buttocks were fully exposed, and his ‘g-string’-style bikini bottom was stuffed with dollar bills — a practice that is commonly known to occur at strip clubs. The dancer’s breasts — unmistakably female in appearance — were also fully exposed except for the nipple and areola, which were covered with adhesive ‘pasties.’”

Brandon Wolf, a pro-LGBT advocate who serves as the press secretary of Equality Florida, made the absurd comparison of these hyper-sexualized and explicit drag queen events to the waitstaff working at Hooters who may interact with children while serving food, reportedly referring to an old viral photo of a Hooters waitress in a tank top and shorts posing for a photo with a young boy as some kind of smoking gun to prove his point.

“Has an investigation begun into parents taking their children to ogle in a restaurant with a name based on a sexualized premise/double entendre? What about bikini-clad gun show models? Since DeSantis is replacing a parent’s judgment with his own, we will see how far the Governor’s puritanical purge is going to go or if it is merely selectively enforced.”

Of course, the ludicrousness of Wolf’s comparison is apparent when referring back to Governor DeSantis’ July complaint that described the drag show at issue as being an event akin to what takes place at “strip clubs.”
