On October 19th, Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake held a rally in Tucson alongside Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin, where the two took turns decimating Arizona Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs’ policy prescriptions while delving into how Lake will set Arizona on the right track to prosperity.

Speaking to an ignited crowd gathered in Tucson’s Whiskey Roads, Lake detailed some of the concerns Arizonans have pertaining to the southern border – such as drugs flooding the state and falling into the hands of youths – and touted her oft-cited plans to declare an invasion on Arizona’s southern border.

“One of the people asked last night is, they said, ‘What are we supposed to do? We moms and dads, we’re getting ready to go trick or treating, and now we’ve got the fentanyl pouring in and it looks like candy. How do we protect our kids?’ And it’s sad that we even have to ask questions like that. It’s sad that our federal government has allowed this border to be wide open, allow criminals to come in, allow drugs to pour in, and they’ve done nothing about it. And that’s why we have to elect a governor who’s going to secure that border, starting on day one, when we declare an invasion on our border.”

Another area Lake commented on related to a topic that has captivated the nation: education. The Trump-endorsed candidate proclaimed that public schools are not meant to be indoctrination vehicles for socialism and the ilk, but are meant to prepare the youth in a manner that they can flourish in the economy they’ll inherit once they attain the age of majority.

“It’s not to indoctrinate them, it is not a turn them into socialists, it’s not to confusion about their gender – the purpose of educating our children is to prepare them for the real world. So they’re resourceful, so they’re ready to take on their own life, and they can eventually afford to live in this economy, right? So we’re going to bring back after 10th grade dual track education after 10th grade, you decide if you want to take that college route, and go with a four year college – if so great. But if you don’t want to do that, then we’re going to bring trade skill training, vocational training, and career certification training in our high schools.”

In terms of policy that would undoubtedly be attractive to Republican and Democrat voters alike, Lake shared her intentions to cut state taxes on groceries and for those who are renters.

“It truly is a plan to help fight the inflation that Joe Biden has created, by returning a half a billion dollars of your hard earned money back to you. We’re going to reduce and get rid of the grocery tax and the rental tax. Somebody said, ‘This isn’t going to help every single Arizonan.’ It’s going to help a lot of Arizonans. We’re gonna send a half a billion dollars back into your pockets. And that’s just the start. We’re going to work every single year to cut taxes, and you know why we’re going to do that? Because one of my heroes, Ronald Reagan, did precisely that.”

Lake explained what’s at stake in this gubernatorial election via highlighting some of Hobbs’ voting record in the Senate and urging attendees to dissuade their friends and family from giving Hobbs their votes.

“We will see California-like policies in Arizona under Katie Hobbs. We already know that when she was in the Senate, she voted against a border wall. She voted against a virtual border wall, she voted against the borders task force that was trying to keep us safe, she even voted against our ability to ask the federal government to recoup some of the costs we pay by having a wide open border. So we’ve got to make sure – obviously, if you’re here you’re not voting for her – but we’ve got to make sure our friends don’t vote for her.”

Virginia Governor Youngkin took the stage after Lake, invigorating the crowd by getting down to the brass tacks of what a Hobbs administration would be like for Arizona.

“But the distinction couldn’t be more clear: do you want your taxes to go up? Katie Hobbs does. Do you want your border wide open with fentanyl pouring right in? Katie Hobbs does. Do you want to demean and defund police? Katie Hobbs does. Do you want to see inflation run away and steal all of your hard earned money? Katie Hobbs does.”

Governor Youngkin played off the momentum he’d attained from detailing the severe caveats a Hobbs administration would bring by juxtaposing what a Lake administration could bring to the table to everyday Arizonans.

“We’ve got a wide open border that is an absolute national catastrophe. What do they want to do? Invite more in. Friends, they are agents of chaos. America knows it. It’s no wonder she doesn’t want to debate Kari Lake. Let’s go ahead and rehearse. What about inflation? Winner, Kari Lake. What about crime and standing up for law enforcement? Winner, Kari Lake. What about our border and keeping our nation secure and fentanyl out of the hands of innocent Americans? Winner, Kari Lake. No wonder she doesn’t want to debate her.”

The Virginian governor also chimed in on what he believes is at stake this election cycle, asserting to the event attendees that liberty is in jeopardy this November if the appropriate candidate isn’t elected.

“What we know is this is about freedom and liberty. See the left liberal progressives fully believed they know better. See, we know a little bit about freedom and liberty in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The greatest words ever written this hemisphere were penned by a Virginian: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, and among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Governor Youngkin expanded on the point of American liberties that progressives are ardently working to undermine, emphasizing that such liberties are ones endowed by God and that Hobbs – and those like her – will stop at nothing to upend these rights.

“These are not rights that are given to us by a king or by elites in Washington or Phoenix or Richmond, Virginia. These are rights that are given to us by God Almighty. We have to defend them. We must defend them, which is why it is time for Arizona to go to work. Because on the ballot is the great progress that Arizona has made. Listen, Governor Ducey has brought taxes down, he’s introduced school choice, and I’m telling you, Katie Hobbs wants to take it all away. That’s what she wants to do. And it is time for Kari Lake to shift into high gear and drive Arizona forward.”
