While the last four years focused on Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and stolen elections, there was another person that seemed to be a treasure trove of headlines. Joe Biden might be known for stumbling up Air Force One and trying to shake hands with an imaginary being, but he barely compares when it comes to his son, Hunter Biden. If it weren’t for Hunter Biden himself, the world would have no idea what it means to be a Biden, as he gave unfiltered access when forgot about his laptop. The contents of that hard drive followed two investigations into Hunter, and surprisingly, while federal agents admitted they had more than enough evidence to charge him months ago, the son of Joe Biden remains untouchable.

Even before Hunter Biden forgot his laptop at a repair shop in 2019, federal agents were supposedly investigating him for tax fraud and money laundering. That investigation started in 2018, and just a year later, authorities would have the emails and documents to back up their claims when it came to Hunter and his business dealings with China. That same year, another investigation by the Delaware State Police and even the FBI started after Hunter lied on a government document to purchase a gun.

In late 2018, Hunter Biden found himself in a romantic relationship with his sister-in-law. Although strange, the authorities got involved when Hallie Biden, his new lover, reported that his gun was missing. Hallie stated that she stole the gun from Hunter and threw it away as she believed he was going to harm himself. When she couldn’t locate the weapon, she went to the police.

After being contacted by the Secret Service, the owner of the store where Hunter Biden bought the gun handed over receipts to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The official documents attached to the purchase showed that on October 12, 2018, Hunter checked “no” on the question, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”

Five years before the purchase, Hunter Biden was kicked out of the Navy Reserves for failing a drug test. They found cocaine in his system. Not only that, in Hunter’s own memoir, he writes of being addicted to crack when he bought the gun.

Releasing a statement, the attorney for Hunter Biden, Chris Clark, criticized the investigation for leaking information to the public. “It is a federal felony for a federal agent to leak information about a Grand Jury investigation such as this one. Any agent you cite as a source in your article apparently has committed such a felony. We expect the Department of Justice will diligently investigate and prosecute such bad actors. As is proper and legally required, we believe the prosecutors, in this case, are diligently and thoroughly weighing not just evidence provided by agents but also all the other witnesses in this case, including witnesses for the defense. That is the job of the prosecutors. They should not be pressured, rushed, or criticized for doing their job.”
