CLEVELAND, OH – If there’s one aspect of the Democratic party that folks can count on religiously, it’s the blatant hypocrisy practiced by those from within the party who are always ready to serve a heaping dish of “good for thee, but not for me” – and the latest entry into the Democratic book of double standards is failed Ohio candidate Nina Turner regarding her position on what a minimum wage should be.

Turner previously served in the Ohio State Senate, representing the state’s 25th District from September of 2008 until January of 2015, later shifting to being a Bernie Sanders stalwart for the socialist’s 2016 and 2020 presidential effort. Following Sanders’ failed bid for office, Turner redirected her efforts to taking a stab at Congress, running in the Democratic primary in 2022 for a chance at landing the U.S. House seat representing Ohio’s 11th District.

However, Turner suffered an embarrassing loss to fellow Democrat incumbent Shontel Brown in the primary held on May 3rd, with Rep. Brown walking away with nearly twice the number of votes that Turner had secured. So, with Turner’s political career floundering, it’s no surprise to see that far-left outlet The Young Turks decided to give her a home so as to amplify the socialist nonsense she currently spews on social media.

Speaking of socialist nonsense and Turners’ proximity to Sanders, it’s hardly shocking to see her spout rhetoric pertaining to increasing the minimum wage to some pie in the sky dollar amount (much like Sanders’ mantra about making “the minimum wage a living wage”).

Take for example Turners’ post on Twitter from September 25th which reads, “$7.25? An hour? For someone’s labor? And yall think that’s ok?! Nah. $25/hour minimum wage.”

Earlier on that same day, Turner was defending the calls for a $25/hour minimum wage, responding to a Twitter user who was critical of the declaration with, “You know, people love to ask this question, so let me explain: If the minimum wage increased at the rate of productivity since 1960, workers would be paid around $25/hour today. I’m advocating for rational, humane policy, not just randomly choosing numbers.”

On October 2nd and 15th, Turner was at it again, simply writing, “$25/hour minimum wage.”

And these tidbits of Turner’s social media posts are but a small sampling of her cries for there to be a minimum wage in the realm of $25/hour. Which then leads to the question of whether Turner actually practices what she preaches, as in: did she, herself, see that employees who were associated with her failed congressional campaign were netting $25/hour?

The obvious answer to that question is ‘no,’ as evidenced by a still active webpage promoting a job opportunity as a campaign canvasser for Turner’s failed congressional bid.

In a job posting from February 21st on Salary.com by “Nina Turner for Congress,” the campaign was seeking canvassers who were able to fulfill duties ranging from “door-to-door canvassing” to “event staffing” where the hourly wage advertised was $15/hour.

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

“Full time/part time canvassing job opportunities that pay $15/hour and is flexible with your schedule? The Nina Turner Campaign is looking to recruit, hire and train paid canvassers who will carry the campaign door to door throughout the district.”

The canvasser job posting ironically delved into how, “Turner has dedicated her life fighting for the poor, the working poor and the barely middle class,” in a job posting that, again, is for $15/hour – which is apparently $10/hour less than what Turner considers to be a living wage.

Imagine that: a Democrat who clamors about how the world should be but doesn’t actively perform the calls to action that they demand from others. But Turner is more than just a run of the mill Democrat, as she’s of the Sanders Democratic socialism breed – meaning that Turner doesn’t want to actually see people paid a “living wage” when the payroll is coming out of her pocket.

Particularly, when it comes to this neo-socialism brought about by Sanders, Turner was following the Sanders playbook at every step, as the twice-failed Democratic presidential hopeful was embroiled in his own scandal of demanding a higher federal minimum wage and paying campaign staffers less than what he touted.

A 2019 report from The Washington Post regarding Sanders’ campaign revealed that while the Democratic socialist was making a case for $15/hour federal minimum wage, field organizers for his campaign “were working 60 hours per week at minimum” while receiving an hourly wage of “less than $13.”

It seems as though Turner is cut from the same exact cloth as her socialist mentor, insofar that she demands everyone but herself to uphold a particular wage standard for employees.

But outside of being a total hypocrite, Turner is also a complete moron when it comes to her economic policy prescriptions, as she also champions the concept of what’s commonly referred to as a universal basic income.

Turner highlighted her adoration of what amounts to a monthly allowance for simply existing on October 15th, writing on Twitter, “Raise the minimum wage. $2k/month checks. Tax the rich. Hold corporations accountable for price gouging. Enforce antitrust laws. Make more in America. That’s how we start to solve the affordability crisis.”

The portion of the tweet reading “$2k/month checks” is the universal basic income spiel, which is the equivalent of printing funny money. One of the biggest flaws of a $2,000-a-month universal basic income is that the ticket price for that would outweigh what the federal government takes in annually for taxes when one runs the numbers. The federal government pulls in about $3.3 trillion in tax revenue – but universal basic income for about 260 million adults at $2,000-a-month would clock in at about $6.24 trillion annually.

This is where the printing of funny money comes in, because unless the federal government were willing to roughly triple tax revenue (which that would never happen), then the federal government would just have to start printing money, leading to further devaluing of the U.S. dollar.

It is frankly a godsend that Turner’s aspirations for D.C. came to a crashing halt this past May, because not only is she a hypocrite, but her policy prescriptions are also the embodiment of unrealistic utopianism.
