WASHINGTON, DC – A purported climate expert became unhinged earlier in September during a House Oversight Committee hearing when Republican Rep. Clay Higgins put her on the spot and asked her what she would personally do – had she have the power to – in the wake of obliterating the oil and gas industry.

On September 15th, a woman by the name of Raya Salter, who is reportedly “an energy justice lawyer who serves on the New York State Climate Action Council,” according to the Huffington Post, appeared before Congress to bemoan the impacts of the fossil fuel industry.

During her testimony, Salter clamored about there being a climate crisis, calling it an “unprecedented global crime and the smoking gun lies in the hands of big oil and gas,” and asserted that black Americans are somehow being harmed by the exploits of the oil and gas industry.

Much like any climate alarmist, Salter invoked the oft-repeated mantra about how we need to move away from fossil fuels. However, again in the spirit of climate alarmists, that dogmatic mantra was all that Salter was bringing to the table.

Apparently, Rep. Higgins was feeling a bit feisty and opted to hear out Salter with respect to what she’d personally do if given the proverbial keys to everything under the sun that climate alarmists bemoan.

“If you had control of the world, ma’am, if you did – I mean, you’re presenting these grand ideas about eliminating fossil fuel and the horrors of the oil and gas industry and the energy that we consume to run the world and uplift the economic potential and prosperity of the world, which is the single most significant factor that connects the prosperity of our citizenry worldwide is economic opportunity, and energy drives that but here you go, let me just ask you. What would you do…What would you do with petrochemical products? Everything you have – your clothes, your glasses, the car you got her on, your phone, the table you sitting at, the chair, the carpet under your feet – everything you’ve got is petrochemical products. What would you do with that? Tell the world.”

This question was apparently too much to digest for Salter, as instead of directly presenting how she would personally navigate such issues if given the unbridled ability to do so – she went into a tirade about how elected officials like Rep. Higgins need to search for the solutions to assuage the feelings of climate alarmists.

“If I had that power in the world? What – actually, I don’t need that power because what I would do is ask you, sir, from Louisiana to search… you, sir, from Louisiana, to search your heart! And understand why the EPA knows that toxic petrochemical facilities are some of the most toxic polluting facilities in the world and are killing black people throughout Louisiana. So my first thing would to be for you to search your heart and ask your God what you are doing to the black, poor people in Louisiana.”

When Rep. Higgins called out Salter for not having an answer, the individual only became more unhinged – delving into hysterics about the world ending and Americans dying because of the oil and gas industry.
