Although Texas is currently dealing with a Southern border crisis the Democrats or Biden administration refuse to address, the state continues to pride itself on being a safe place for families and citizens. Sadly, over the past two years, crime has seen a dramatic increase in places like Houston. In 2020, murder increased by a staggering 45%. Most recently, in Amarillo, three people were shot at a Tri-State Fair and Rodeo.

According to detectives, on Monday night, a group of deputies from Potter County was working the fair, which was a community event, when an individual unexpectedly opened fire on them. During the attack, a deputy and firefighter were struck. The third person hit by the gunman was a bystander doing nothing more than enjoying the festival. Sheriff Brian Thomas said the “male suspect opened fire on the deputies, striking a deputy and an off-duty firefighter, also working at the fair, and a bystander.”

With the shooting being investigated by the Texas Rangers, Sheriff Thomas decided not to give too many details about the situation. He did not release the identities of the victims or the shooter. Although the deputies were off duty at the time of the incident, they were able to return fire at the gunman, wounding him. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and is described as having life-threatening injuries.

While Texas Rangers investigate the matter, Texas Sheriff Javier Salazer decided to turn his attention on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as he opened an investigation into him supposedly illegally transporting migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. Discussing the investigation, Salazar said, “Here we have 48 people that are already on hard times. They are here legally in our country at that point. I believe that they were preyed upon. Somebody came from out of state, preyed upon these people, lured them with promises of a better life, which is absolutely what they were looking for.”

Learning about the investigation, Ron DeSantis’ office released a statement about the migrants abandoned in Bexar County, where the Sheriff is from. “Florida gave them an opportunity to seek greener pastures in a sanctuary jurisdiction that offered greater resources for them, as we expected. Unless the MA national guard has abandoned these individuals, they have been provided accommodations, sustenance, clothing, and more options to succeed following their unfair enticement into the United States, unlike the 53 immigrants who died in a truck found abandoned in Bexar County this June.”

As Texas law enforcement deals with rising crime, the Southern border, and investigations, Governor Greg Abbott decided to also transport migrants to states like New York and Washington, D.C. The Democrats have condemned the Republican’s recent actions as nothing but a stunt for political gain.
