On September 18th, President Joe Biden appeared on the program “60 Minutes,” where his comments to reporter Scott Pelley about the pandemic being “over” has caused significant outrage among leftists who are clamoring that the pandemic is not over.

During the “60 Minutes” segment, Biden was walking alongside Pelley at the Detroit Auto Show when he was pointedly asked by the journalist, “Mr. President, first Detroit Auto Show in three years…is the pandemic over?”

Biden responded with little hesitation, saying, “The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it…but the pandemic is over. If you notice, no one’s wearing masks, everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing, and I think this is a perfect example of it.”

All things considered, some would concur Biden’s comments about the pandemic being “over” are reasonable – shots and boosters are available for those who want them, there are a handful of treatments available that have been proven effective with tackling COVID, and the world (in a sense) has reverted back to a semblance of normalcy compared to how much things were upended in 2020.

Frankly, at some point, COVID is just going to have to be chalked up to being an endemic coronavirus.

But for some reason, leftists are aghast with Biden’s remarks, pounding the proverbial sand in online comments about the pandemic not being over and demanding that people adopt a fear of living an everyday life.

The hashtag #CovidIsNotOver began trending on Twitter shortly after Biden’s remarks on “60 Minutes,” offering a glimpse into just how much some on the left have made fearmongering around COVID a part of their personality.

For example, one person on Twitter accused Biden of spreading “disinformation,” writing, “Dear progressive politicians,
Now is your moment. You called out disinformation with Trump, keep that up for Biden’s disinformation with COVID right now. [COVID is not over], and I want to see the politicians who represent me demanding that the public health system take care of us.”

Unsurprisingly, there are those out there who are still clinging to their masks while expressing outrage over Biden’s comments, with one person tweeting, “I thought when the CDC said *those who are vaccinated can remove their mask* was the worst statement. Biden saying the pandemic is over just topped that by a mile.”

Luckily, there are those (ostensibly on the political right) who find the whole uproar over Biden’s remarks ridiculous, with one person referring to those slinging the #CovidIsNotOver hashtag as “cultists.”

“Covid Cultists in the #CovidIsNotOver hashtag will never move on, and that’s fine. The rest of the world has. None of us at our pharmacy wear masks, nor do most customers. A newly hired grocery cashier isn’t even vaccinated. It’s over.”
