While the Democrats and Biden administration continue to hound Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for sending migrants to Northern states, the Republican is making preparations for his state as Hurricane Ian approaches. Much like the Southern border crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor DeSantis is wasting no time when it comes to preparing and informing people about what is coming. DeSantis urged citizens not to underestimate the historic storm as experts suggest it will bring catastrophic flooding across the Sunshine state.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for all 67 counties in the state. That is on top of over 7,000 National Guard troops deploying to the area in preparation for Hurricane Ian. “Mother nature is a very fearsome adversary, please heed those evacuation warnings. You could see power outages, inland flooding, various types of tree damage from wind, so be prepared for that.”

On top of Governor Ron DeSantis calling for over 2 million people to be evacuated, Walt Disney is also taking precautions by evacuating thousands of people who are currently residing in their hotels. With Hurricane Ian already hitting the Florida Key coastline hard, not only are Dinsey resorts preparing for the worst, but their campgrounds are also being closed.

According to the Daily Mail, “Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom are currently still open and operating under normal conditions, with the company ‘monitoring’ the situation. The Disney Springs shopping and entertainment complex also will remain open, while Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue will be closed from Wednesday to Friday. Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will also be closed for three days. Typhoon Lagoon and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.”

A spokesman for Disney said, “Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions as we prepare to make necessary adjustments based on the latest information from the National Weather Service. We continue to put the safety of our Cast Members and Guests first and will share updates with you as we monitor Hurricane Ian.”

Looking at the oncoming hurricane, a spokesperson for Publix explained how many of their stores in the area are already short on items. This comes as Americans have been dealing with supply chain issues for months. “As we continue to monitor Ian, Publix locations may limit quantities of items, such as water, to best serve the majority of our customers. We have seen increased purchases on items such as bread, water, batteries, and canned goods, just to name a few.”
