According to a report from Just The News, a filing by Special Prosecutor John Durham earlier in September revealed that the primary source behind the bunk allegations contained within the Steele Dossier  -a.k.a., what led to the Russiagate hoax – wound up becoming a paid FBI “confidential human source” for years, despite concerns within the bureau that the individual bore ties to Moscow’s intelligence services.

Durham had reportedly swayed a federal judge into unsealing a motion that exposed Igor Danchenko – who is currently charged with five counts of lying to the FBI – as being a paid FBI informant for over three years until the FBI terminated that relationship in October of 2020.

Danchenko was one of the key personas behind the faulty intel from the Steele Dossier and is slated to stand trial this October for the alleged lies he fed to the FBI during his time as a paid asset.

Per the newly unsealed filing, “In March 2017, the FBI signed the defendant up as a paid confidential human source of the FBI. The FBI terminated its source relationship with the defendant in October 2020. As alleged in further detail below, the defendant lied to FBI agents during several of these interviews.”

What this unsealed information reveals is just how zealous the FBI was in going after President Donald Trump early on in his presidency.

Take into consideration that the FBI fired former MI6 agent Christopher Steele – the actual author of the Steele Dossier – in November of 2016 due to his unauthorized contact with the media, only to go on to onboard his primary source months later despite the bureau having already determined Danchenko’s statements in the Steele dossier were unsupported by facts or complete exaggerations of the truth.

What’s all the more unsettling in the matter is that prior to the FBI bringing in Danchenko as a paid asset, the bureau opened up a counterintelligence probe on Danchenko due to his ties with Russia as well as his attempts to purchase classified intel from the Obama administration, according to Durham’s filing.

“As has been publicly reported, the defendant was the subject of an FBI counterintelligence investigation from 2009 to 2011. In late 2008, while the defendant was employed by a prominent think tank in Washington, D.C., the defendant engaged two fellow employees about whether one of the employees might be willing or able in the future to provide classified information in exchange for money.

“According to one employee (‘Employee-1’), the defendant believed that he (Employee-1) might be in a position to enter the incoming Obama administration and have access to classified information. During this exchange, the defendant informed Employee-1 that he had access to people who would be willing to pay money in exchange for classified information. Employee-1 passed this information to a U.S. government contact, and the information was subsequently passed to the FBI.”

Apparently, the FBI only closed the counterintelligence probe into Danchenko after they falsely believed he’d left the United States.

Yet, two months before the FBI decided to bring in Danchenko as a paid asset, he was caught lying again to agents in January 2017 about not “having any contact with Russian intelligence or security services,” but the FBI still decided to bring him on in their quest against Trump.

Durham is asking the court for permission to use this evidence at Danchenko’s upcoming trial so as to showcase a pattern of the defendant’s lying to the jury.
